masterrig 1 #401 May 21, 2009 No doubt! The Wings are really going to have to be on their game. Chicago has the reputation of being the 'loudest' rink in the NHL. Pumping all that energy the fans don't quit till the last whistle blows. Talk about keeping the Blackhawks revved-up! Chuck
grimmie 186 #402 May 21, 2009 Detroit doesn't look as invincible as they did last season. I'm just hoping that Hossa and Datsyuk don't wake up if they make the finals. I think the Pens have a little too much speed for the Canes. But Cam Ward is the best goalie of the final four. Unless of course Fluery pulls some more of that last game magic out of his ass! masterrig 1 #403 May 21, 2009 Detroit's play doesn't look as 'tight' as last season. They are giving-up the puck too much and not 'working' Chicago's net and getting re-bounds. They aren't consistant. I wish to the heavens that Hossa and Datsyuk would wake-up! Along with a few others! If, Fleury perks-up and does what he is capable of doing... look-out! That series, like the Western conference will definately, keep fans on the edge of their seats. I like it!Chuck
eeneR 3 #404 May 21, 2009 I have to say though that the United Center is NOWHERE as loud as the old Chicago Stadium was...WOW. I was lucky enough to have been to games there and the noise, the crowd and the acoustics in that place were AMAZING!! The upper level seats were scary, you tripped you might end up on the ice LOL. Steep as all get out! But one hell of a great place to watch a hockey game....She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto
masterrig 1 #405 May 21, 2009 Yessir! From watching the previous Chicago games, you're right... not quite as loud. Still, Chicago fans DO let you know, they have a voice! Years ago, I attended a game at the old Olympia Stadium in Detroit... that was something! The old pipe organ and the acoustics. really neat. These new stadiums and hockey rinks are all flash and mirrors but, there's nothing quite like the old stadiums. Chuck
grimmie 186 #406 May 21, 2009 I went to the final two regular season Hawk games at the Stadium. They played the LA Kings on a Sunday and then the Maple Leafs on Thursday. It was LOUD!! What a great place to see a game. I hate the new arenas....
masterrig 1 #407 May 21, 2009 Kinda' gives us an idea of what our Dads and Grandads meant by 'the good ol' days'!? I had an old cowboy tell me once, he'd seen a lot of changes in his life and never liked a damned one of them1! Chuck
eeneR 3 #408 May 21, 2009 That would be a yes ma'am Yep, things don't always get better. I will say I did have the honor of making it to a Hawks - Wings Playoff game at the United Center when it went into triple OT years back. Freaking awesome game, fights fights and more fights. Eddie Belfour was in the goal then, the goalies even got in on a one of them!!! masterrig 1 #409 May 22, 2009 My apologies, ma'am! I'll bet that was something! The Blackhawks go back, I'm sure you know, before the NHL was even formed. I hear of several 'rivalries' but, that one is the oldest. They do, put on a good show and give fans their monies worth. I remember a few years ago, the Wings played the Avalanche in the Western Conference finals and Patrick Roy and the Wing's goalie, Mike Vernon got into it at center ice. The next time they met (same situation) Roy and Ozgood got into it. The next time in the finals, Hasek headed for center ice to face-off with Roy and he fell on his face. Roy, skated-off laughing! Hockey is good!Chuck
LaRusic 0 #410 May 22, 2009 wow what a game, that was crazy tonight!!!! lots of goals and i think the canes are rattled malkin was on fire and crosby had the puck on a string. some great d tonight by the pens too!!!The Altitude above you, the runway behind you, and the fuel not in the plane are totally worthless Dudeist Skydiver #
grimmie 186 #411 May 22, 2009 The Canes can't skate with the Pens. They get great shots off of the forecheck, but no rushes. The Pens "D" looked a bit slow tonight. It's a good thing their "O" was on fire. Cam Ward was just average. How the hell did Malkin backhand that in????? So on to old NHL barns. I would take a game at Maple Leaf Gardens, Chicago Stadium, The Fabulous Forum, The Igloo, The Aud or others before these new heartless, luxury suite, no atmosphere mega arenas. Damn, I must be getting old...
murrays 0 #412 May 22, 2009 The only old rink I was ever in was the Montreal Forum. LaRusic 0 #413 May 22, 2009 Malkin was a man possessed last night, trick and an assist, and a bunch of other chances. masterrig 1 #414 May 22, 2009 Holy cow! Malkin really got after it! This will more than likely, light a fire under the Canes and could repeat what they did in 2006. Good game! Chuck
Jewels 0 #415 May 22, 2009 GO PENS!! I like racking up the Ws. I hope we can keep it up. It's so great to see the Pens come so far in just a few seasons! Oh, and on an unrelated-to-the-playoffs aside, I like the rumor about talks for getting Roy to coach the Avs. That would be fantastic. I might be a lot more interested in Avalanche hockey again.TPM Sister #

Or maybe it is just cause his name is not pronounced like it looks? I dunno. grimmie 186 #419 May 22, 2009 The Avs had an AHL lineup most of the season. At least Roy would bring some passion back behind the bench and in the stands!
Jewels 0 #420 May 22, 2009 Yeah, it just feels so . . . so . . . un-AVALANCHE-like. We're used to winning around here! SOMETHING needs to change. If the talent isn't producing, something's wrong. TPM Sister #

grimmie 186 #422 May 23, 2009 Wow! What a game. I thought the Hawks were toast after that horrific 3 goals in a row collapse! Kudos to Huet. He wasn't severely tested, but he played great coming in cold. We have a series! Oh yeah... GO PENS!!!
murrays 0 #423 May 23, 2009 They did well to regain their composure and keep it scoreless in the third. I am sure glad they pulled it out of the fire and hope they can win another on Sunday. I have no doubt they can win this series if they are consistently playing at the high level they are capable of....but that's asking a lot against a dangerous team like the WIngs. In other sad news...Pierre Maguire did NOT get the Minnesote Wild GM job so we're stuck with him as a broadcaster it seems. In unsurprising news...Mike Keenan is toast as Coach with the Flames. I never understood why they picked him as a coach in the first place.-- Murray "No tyranny is so irksome as petty tyranny: the officious demands of policemen, government clerks, and electromechanical gadgets." - Edward Abbey
masterrig 1 #424 May 23, 2009 I wonder... how the game would've turned-out if, O'Hallaran hadn't given Kronwall a 5-minute major for the CLEAN hit on Havalat? Even the announcers said it was a clean hit. I do have to admit, the Wings looked more like Jr. 'B' players in the first period. Chicago definately, brought their 'A' game. The Blackhawks can more than likely look to win again tomorrow if, 'stats' mean anything. The Wings just don't do good in afternoon games. I see a long, probably 7-game series but, the Wings will pull-out the series win. Chuck
grimmie 186 #425 May 23, 2009 At the most the Kronwall hit should have been a 2 minute roughing or interference. Did someone steal Hossa's hockey stick for this series???
