Massive youth market that participates in the act of texting, plus obvious commercial sponsors for program, equal coverage. If you took ALL of the actual skydivers interested in USPA Nationals coverage you'd have -maybe- 30,000 people nation-wide. Take all of the sponsors willing to put up money and you'll never find enough money to cover the catering bill let alone national coverage. Skydiving (no matter what we may like to think) simply doesn't have enough people in the mass market that can relate to it and would care to tune in. The cost to cover it simply can't be gotten from McDonald's or Coke because the people that would buy the time would do better covering, well, the texting championships. Sad but true.
