Thanatos340 1 #27 June 16, 2009 Quote Here's a question...if it's round wouldn't it be corn pie? How often do you see round bread? Isn't it typically square or rectangle? Damn Yankees!!(You do know the difference between a Yankee and a Damn Yankee don't you??)I looked up cornbread on Wikipedia. All Pics show Cast Iron Skillets. Nice little Regional guide there that also talks about your Yankee Bread. And if Wikipedia says it... Well it still don't mean shit!! I figure it as good as anything else to argue about today. poe62 0 #28 June 16, 2009 Quote ever tried it?? Nope, never have. I've had buttermilk...tastes almost rancid, and I'm not partial to soggy bread unless it's cereal. I can't see it tasting all that good, but I wouldn't push it away if someone offered. I'll try anything once. Thanatos340 1 #32 June 16, 2009 I don't care for Buttermilk myself usually. But A Cold Glass about half full and fill the rest with day old Cornbread, Makes a Mush that is eaten with a Spoon and it is whole other thing. Love it!! Definitely a true southern delicacy if you ask me.Hope you get a chance to try it sometime. it might surprise you.

I would agree except that cornbread (True Southern Cornbread) has a far different texture than Northern Cornbread. Also it is not the soggy texture that you would get if you tried something like this with a Flour or wheat based bread. Next time I am at the Farm I will bring you some if you are willing to try it. Rookie120 0 #36 June 16, 2009 Round iron skillet! Anything else should be a crime. It also has to be a skillet that has had about 500lbs of bacon cooked in it and only whiped out with a paper towel. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

'Specially ifn' at least 500 lbs of bacon been cooked in it and only wiped out with a paper towel as someone here said!! My wife has a skillet like that and it makes great corn bread!! Peggy also likes to make corn fritters or "lace corn bread" as Paula Dean made on her show. Good stuff all the way round or square!! 'Can't forget we have one of those corn stick cast iron trays too!SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
