When is someone a 'skydiver'?

Just want to get peoples opinions, when do you consider a person a skydiver?

When you been around long enough, to have 500 skydives, and have "been kicked off at least ONE drop zone" FOR something really stupid.

Not kicked off for a safety violation. I support them, (and personally have broken most).. You have to get kicked off for something REALLY stupid.

Is he sober? Is he a floater or a anvil? Where do you plan for him to make it to in the formation? Are we turning more than one point? What position is he exiting? Is he on the base? WHO is responsible for him?

when you can exit an airplane BY YOURSELF and activate a parachute to save your ass BY YOURSELF... you are then a skydiver....

which makes a static line student 1/2 of a skydiver, and becomes a complete skydiver on their first clear and pull...
and an AFF student is just a student, until they solo.....

I disagree. A robot or a chimp could be taught to do those things.

Solo is a great start, but I think that to become a skydiver you also need to know the risks and take the responsibility. Some people never quite get that even if they have hundreds of jumps.

If you dive out of an aircraft while it is flying and land on the ground under a parachute. Then you dove into the sky with nothing but what you brought along with you to keep you from dying. That is a skydiver. It doesn't mean that your safe or very good at it just that you did this for the fun of it or for what ever reason you chose. It doesn't even mean that you have to do it again.
