VanillaSkyGirl 6 #14 May 29, 2009 Quote Well when ya kick as much ass as you do, it's going to break eventually. What happened? Ugh, I was taking a canopy course last Sunday the 17th, and I had a bad landing. I was eventually taken to the ER. I requested Lisa to take me, which she did. (I wanted a friend w/ me.) They initially told me that they didn't think that I had a break based on the X-rays. (I knew something was really wrong, though.) They couldn't guarantee that it wasn't broken, though. The part of my foot that might be broken could only be seen via MRI (mid & forefoot), so they said to see a specialist. I was wrapped up and a fiberglass splint was placed on my foot/leg. Then, I had to work earlier in the week, but I went to an Ortho. Surgeon on Thursday the 21st. We noticed that I could not move/flex it at all. There was absolutely no movement, so he initially thought that perhaps my Tibialis Anterior tendon was totally ruptured. He recommended an MRI, of course. I finally got some pain meds, too. I basically had nothing, but one ibuprofren for the first 4 days, which was useless for pain. I received the MRI at the end of last week. We had the long-fricken weekend. I did notice that I could move it a tiny bit, after 1 week (on Sunday), so I thought I was in the clear. I made an appnt. to see the Ortho this week, but they had another doctor, podiatric specialist in reconstructive ankle/foot surgery call me to make an appointment, instead. I kind-of knew something was up at that moment. I finally saw that doctor today. I'm still having a 2nd MRI done w/ my cast to double check my mid & forefoot, as well. With the MRi that he did have, he showed me two breaks as well as contusions/sprains, and we placed a cast on me. Voila. Painful process...this has been. At least, my little cast is cute. It's a pretty shade of baby blue. Plus, I've given Lisa some funny memories of my ER antics. Lisa, I wish you had been there when I was joking around with the docs in the ER. We kept calling me a hobbit. Too funny!

VanillaSkyGirl 6 #19 May 29, 2009 Quote I can't wait to sign your cast. YAY! That's why I got baby blue, instead of black this time. The black one was cute, too, but you really can't sign that thing. Plus, they want to give me another one in 3 weeks because they say this one will be too big (stretch) in that amount of time. The great news is that this is a walking cast, too. See, it's not so bad, after all!

warpedskydiver 0 #21 May 29, 2009 If it starts to feel wet inside the cast or the heeln hurts alot get the cast changed. If anything smells funky have your hubby remove the cast with a dremel tool and go get a new cast.
