Saved my ass when I was in South Africa and I had drank one too many bottles of wine!

I won't lie...that looks pretty damn good!!
So I try and I scream and I beg and I sigh
Just to prove I'm alive, and it's alright
'Cause tonight there's a way I'll make light of my treacherous life
Make light!

Coca tea is good stuff, and you CAN get it here. Just google it. There are several vendors in the US.

Here's one vendor I've used:

You are my hero!
But I don't know.....Coca....is the base ingredient of cocaine. And last I knew that was why we couldn't have it here. But I'm more than willing to give it a shot to see if it's the real deal!

Thank you so much!

Amusingly, I just reading the Wikipedia article on bacon, and saw:

Quote

A study by Newcastle University found that foods high in protein—such as bacon— break down into amino acids. The combination of fat and amino acids can speed up a sluggish metabolism depleted of neurotransmitters due to over consumption of alcohol, suggesting that a bacon sandwich can help the body lessen the effects of a hangover.

Is there anything bacon can't do?! ;)

How are they able to sell that? I'm pretty sure coca leaves are in the same legal category as cocaine here in the U.S.(?) So I wonder if they are just selling leaves that have been decocainized (but not being honest about it), or if they are actually selling an illegal product?

Ah another Coca lover! Hi I'm Shah, spend 14 months in Bolivia. Coca cured my migraines and pissed off my dentist by curing all my cavities!

I don't know! I'm going to buy a package and try it out. I will report back ASAP!

Same as in Bolivia!

Ah...ok here is the gig. You won't get high off the stuff.
That being said it will give you a lift. Say something like a strong cup of coffee or tea.

The coca leaf it self is packed full of anti oxidants and fluoride. So as you drink it you are protecting your teeth and killing off all the bacteria that cause tooth decay. The infinitesimal part that does get you high, from what I'm told, works it way into your blood stream, ups your metabolism but just a little bit. Hence the weight loss side effect. Bolivian girls drank at least a cup a day and were all very skinny and lean no matter what they ate.
As for the migraines, no one knows why but drinking coca tea can help you overcome migraines. Something to do with strengthening the blood vessels in the brain. But it hasn't been studied. However I as a teenager had horrid migraines but after being prescribed coca tea by the doctor in Bolivia i was free of the horrid condition in about a month.
I'm going to order some and let you all know if it's the real stuff via the old.....hay it made my mouth go numb when i chewed it for 10 min test.

Where were you in Peru?

Fed law makes coca leaf technically illegal. The two vendors I have used to order tea both ship from the US. I've read that the tea leaves are decocainized, but have also read that they are not.

Based on some experimentation, I don't think the cocaine has been removed. I took the leaves out of a couple teabags and added some baking soda, which acts a mild alkaline, then chewed the leaves like chew. It made my whole mouth numb, which is to be expected if the leaves contain cocaine. The indigenous people of parts Peru/Bolivia use a much stronger alkaline substance when they chew the leaves. Also, any attempt to decocanize the tea would remove all alkaloids, and not just the cocaine. One of these days I'm going to get 500g or so of tea and try to extract cocaine chemically.

One or more of the coca producing countries is working to promote a legal market for coca while at the same time trying to stop the production of cocaine. Wild guess: They may have a deal with the US where the DEA will ignore small imports of tea.
