Depends on what you use. The Rembrand trays work fine, if you can stand having two gel-filled things in your mouth for half an hour at a time.

The Zoom treatment you get at the dentist is BS indeed. According to new research, the UV light does nothing to enhance the whitening effect of the hydrogen peroxide gel they put on, actually it's downright dangerous. It just exposes the patient to high doses of cancer-causing UV rays and heat.

I went for the high powered gel- Plus White? peroxide like all of them I guess is the magic ingredient. Tastes funny, I guess that's the saccharine

My dentist says the Crest White Strips work pretty well and safely, and that the best time to use them is right after a cleaning. Otherwise, you are really just bleaching the tartar.

Some whitening products work great, some are junk. Mostly it's a matter of the type of staining you have. The yellow/orange does better than the grays. Tetracycline staining can be improved, but it may take up to six months of daily bleaching to see a positive affect, and it may actually worsen the banding between light and dark.

Get your teeth cleaned first and follow the directions on the box!

Bleaching has actually been availible for a while (like 15 or 20 years), but its just reached a more popular/accepted level. Also way cheaper now.

I don't think anybody uses UV light, but visible light now. Again, effectiveness is a matter of knowing which staining can be bleached out, and which can't. I do a few of those, but prefer the at home method.

Yes, tetracycline bad for teeth in developing children. Not seen too often now in the US, but still very prevalent in Asia.

I find they work really well if you actually use the bleaching gel and trays, but just owning them and having them sit in the medicine cabinet hardly does any good at all. I wish my dentist would have been more clear about that!

I've used rembrant and it works a little bit.

BUT

I went to my dentist and got custom molds made for my teeth and a years worth of whitening.

(but it lasts MUCH longer than a year)

I paid 125 dollars. Its called opalesence. I used about a quarter of the bleach and its whitened my teeth tremedously for and kept it like that for a year.

I don't use it to get my teeth chicklet white, but whiten it before photo/videoshoots. A major difference. My friends noticed that my teeth were much brighter. Just don't OD on the teeth whitening. I can be gaudy if you over do it.

I'm a smoker too and it really works! try reaching out to your dentist and ask their recommendations.

The best one I've seen and used thus far was from a tanning salon.
It was basically the same stuff you buy at CVS but the UV light helped destroy the pigment better and faster.
In three sessions not only was I tan but I had some amazing white teeth!

ThanksI asked about that and he said just get the stuff in the store.

The guy is a Michaelangelo with the dentistry but he and his hot female tech are a couple of real jokers sometimes- which is why I like to stay awake for any "Procedures"
