jtnesbitt 0 #1 May 20, 2009 I HATE THE POST OFFICE. Sorry if we have any PO employees here....if you are a jumper then you are obviously cool but where do these people come from? I always have the hardest time whether I am trying to do a bulk mailing for my company or just personal stuff! So i have a ridiculously small mailbox at my apartment. Nothing I can do about it, thats just the way it is. Unfortunately if i get too much mail at once, or a magazine such as parachutist my mailman will stop my mail service and take my mail back to the PO. No note or indication that my service has been stopped. So after a couple days of not getting mail I have to go to the PO (who has awesome govt hours) pick up my mail and tell them to restart my service. This happens a few times a month. Again, i cant really help it. It's not like i am letting old mail sit in there. So i havent got mail in about a week and a half. I knew it was going to happen because i ordered new checks and they wouldnt mail them to my business address. So i go yesterday morning and ask for my mail. The woman goes in the back then comes back and says i dont have any. I kindly ask her if she is sure as i havent received mail in a week and a half which is incredibly unusual. She just stares at me pissed of and uninterested and says "have you checked your box?" So I went to work, then went home and sure enough no mail. (As if it would magically appear.) So i went again this morning. Same woman. Two people in front of me is an eldery man. She is extremely rude to him and keeps snapping at him. Then she is rude to the person in front of me. My turn. I ask for my mail again, she goes to the back, comes back and says no mail. I ask her to check again as they have to have it and she says its not back there and maybe i should check my box again. I was livid at this point and there was a huge line of people behind me so i just smile and say fine i will call later and talk to someone else. So i just got off the phone with them. Guess what? They have my mail. And postage just went up again? Really?"If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
riddler 0 #2 May 20, 2009 QuoteAnd postage just went up again? Really? You have choices. Here is an example, if you want to mail a letter from California to Florida: 1. Post office - about 3 days. Cost 44 cents. 2. FedEx - Ground, about a week, cost, about $7. Express 3-day saver: cost, $9-10 3. UPS - Ground, about five days. Cost, about $6.Trapped on the surface of a sphere. racerman 0 #4 May 20, 2009 You've got a lazy letter carrier! We can leave a notice in your box stating your mail is being held or leave it in the office. I'm a City Carrier and we really hate bringing back mail, it means we have to re-deliver it the next day. And depending on mail volume it can get pretty heavy. Since size does matter in this case, something you have no control over, I suggest talking calmly to your carrier or get a P.O. box

Being incompetent is not acceptable, and is not in the USPS guidelines. It's their mentality, which is what's causing them to be inefficient and absolute dickheads to people. I ship every day, and get packages everyday. USPS has by far been extremely rude and incompetent. I have filed complaints with the local post office, I had a CSR removed as she was an absolute cunt who had no clue about her job, and got extremely rude with me after I explained to her how the USPS works. My experience with UPS/FedEx/DHL has been top notch, both with the service and with the representatives. My opinion is based on experiences with thousands of packages through each service (short of DHL).

That was my way of ranting on my personal experience with Postal Employees while attempting to not offend PO employees that might also be jumpers. Racer: I will probably have to get a PO box. I am not upset with the carrier as we have talked about it before and he is in a similar situation as me in the sense that there isnt anything he can do about it if the mail wont fit. Since it doesnt fit the one day there is no magical way to make it fit the next day either thats why he stops the service. Its just frustrating dealing with the people behind the counter. I recently had to get a bulk mailing account set up for my company. THAT was like jumping through multiple rings of fire blindfolded."If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

California to Florida in 3 days? Yeah right! Try sending mail to Florida from any state. Hell, send something from FL to FL and see what happens! Florida is terrible in terms of speed. Plus, the figure the PO gives you are their best estimate. There is no guarantee it will get there when its estimated to get there. As far as outgoing mail, yes, i do have a choice. I do everuything electroniclly when possible and when not i use DHL, Fedex, or UPS. I cannot however dictate how i receive parcels. When i can dictate i use a carrier service and have it sent to my business."If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

jtnesbitt 0 #11 May 21, 2009 Quote Wait a minute. A delivery person can, on his own, decide to discontinue your mail service? Yes, if there is no room for mail then he discontinues the service. He really doesnt have a choice as if its too big the first day then its certainly going to be too big the second day. My problem isnt with the carrier, his hands are tied too. My prob is with the people working behind the counter. I went this mornign to get my mail...again. Same lady working behind the counter as yesterday that couldnt find my mail. So she goes to the back to get it. After 5 minutes she comes back out with some other guy who hands me my mail. As he does he says "Are you going to start collecting your mail?" I look at him shocked and say "I get my mail regularly but when i get a magazine or small box it won't fit and we have to go through this." To demonstrate my point i took the rubberband off my mail and showed him. It was a small box of checks, the new issue of Parachutiest, and 4 legal size letter. THATS IT! He then argues with me syaing the carrier told him i never check my mail. I tell him thats not true as i have already personally spoken to the carrier about the situation. He ignores me and says that i need to check my mail more than once a week. I tell him i check ym mail every night when i get home from work. He gets pissy and explains that when i dont get my mail the carrier has to bring it back and then he has to pull someone off the counter to go retrieve it for me when i come in to get it. My jaw dropped as i looked at him and said "You think i want to come in here every week and deal with this?" I couldnt beleive it. This is what i am talking about. Like Paul said its the attitude that drives me crazy. The carrier is just doing his job, and i am doing the best i can, but their CSR is screwing me and their carrier. Ridiculous!"If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero
JohnDeere 0 #12 May 21, 2009 why didnt the mail man just leave everything but the checks and leave a card to tell you to pickup checks at PO? Then he could have kept devilering other days after that and you could have just picked up your checksNothing opens like a Deere! You ignorant fool! Checks are for workers! flyangel2 2 #13 May 21, 2009 I have a PO Box at the local UPS store. Customer service that is the BEST! Even when I only go by the store twice a month to get my mail, and the box is full, the gals get my mail from the back. On the plus side, the POBox doesn't have a PO Box number. Looks like a real street address, so eveything can get delivered there. If a package comes in, the gals call me and let me know I have one waiting, that they have already signed for.May your trails be crooked, winding, lonesome, dangerous, leading to the most amazing view. returnofdamac 0 #15 May 21, 2009 Can't you ask him to put the mail in there that he can and have you pick up the rest later? ps...well that might not work since you won't know when you have a big package come in...Me: I want to ride a bull out of a skyvan. vegasjoe: How the hell are you going to land that thing? Part of the issue is the asking part. I have only been able to talk to him about this once when i happened to be working from home that day and he rang my doorbell because i had "too much mail." (It was really just an issue of Parachutist that wouldnt fit.) Anyway since he delivers the mail when i work i dont have an opportunity to talk to him directly. This is why i have to deal with the lovely CSR people behind the counter."If this post needs to be moderated I would prefer it to be completly removed and not edited and butchered into a disney movie" - DorkZone Hero

I have a p.o. box and they will leave a card (for the big stuff) and still leave what they can at my box or my house. They also have a seperate walk up window thing to pick up mail that couldnt be delivered. So you dont have to wait in line.
