akarunway 1 #26 April 30, 2009 Quote I have never seen Casablanca, but a friend keeps insisting it's the best movie ever. Do you agree? What's so great about it? If you don't agree, what movie is your favorite? Frankly, my dear. I don't give a damn. Edit to add: As someone else stated. The African Queen also.I hold it true, whate'er befall; I feel it, when I sorrow most; 'Tis better to have loved and lost Than never to have loved at all. mfrese 0 #31 April 30, 2009 As far as old B&W movies, it's definitely in my top three. Got to give the top spot to "To Kill A Mockingbird", though. Gregory Peck in his best role ever, and a very young Robert Duvall as the hero. What could be better? Would you get a membership to Netflix already? For crying out loud! Oh, btw, get the discs actually mailed to you, the Netflix on-line service doesn't do these movies justice. I think Netflix on-line blows pretty hard actually and I have a good connection. I can't even imagine it on an average one. I really miss the "old days" of when there were a ton of art movie houses around town where you could actually see these movies on a big screen as they were intended. Blockbuster rentals pretty much killed that. There still are some art houses in LA and occasionally they'll have special nights for the older stuff, but it's a lot harder to find the right nights and they're fewer and fewer of them.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

And all of the Sherlock Holmes stories are written from the first person perspective of Dr. Watson, but I'm pretty sure most people will agree that Holmes is the actual hero in those as well.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

PLFXpert 0 #45 April 30, 2009 I have never seen it, either. I have also never seen any 007 flick. GASP! Seriously. I did, however, see that one movie with that one main 007 actor and Rene something (can't remember her name, but I LOVED her in Tin Cup) and he stole and then replaced a painting in a museum. That movie was OK. Paint me in a corner, but my color comes back.

The remake of The Thomas Crown Affair Good film, fun, slick etc. but doesn't come close to the sheer 60's cool of the Steve McQueen/ Faye Dunaway original.Do you want to have an ideagasm? I think Netflix on-line blows pretty hard actually and I have a good connection. Really? I think their online service is great. Some of the movies are poor quality and shouldn't be watched on a big screen, but with many of them I can't tell the difference from a DVD copy (except for no surround sound, but I think that most of the old movies don't have that anyway). We're watching them via a projector, I think it's about 720p, with the picture about 10-ft wide, over a FiOS connection. Looks good to me. Almost like having our own little art movie house.
