JohnMitchell 16 #27 April 25, 2009 Quote 5 - this is the most painful: cut back on meat. You should eat a piece of meat NO BIGGER than your fist every day (that's just 1 chicken thigh, for example). Nataly 38 #29 April 25, 2009 Quote 5 - this is the most painful: cut back on meat. You should eat a piece of meat NO BIGGER than your fist every day (that's just 1 chicken thigh, for example). Most people eat 3 or 4 times that. -Yoga. It improves everything, including digestion, and it's an amazing toner. Plus if it becomes a habit, it makes you think about eating healthier all the time. -Milk sucks. I gradually stepped down from whole to fat free years ago. Now, unless it's going into a cake mix, it's strictly soy. Not only did it take a huge fat and cholesterol source away, but I actually breathe more clearly. (Yes, milk creates snot.) TOTALLY agree on the yoga bit.. I started yoga about 2 years ago, and can't believe the difference. I used to do loads of running / cycling.. My legs, butt and abs got a good workout, but since I moved to big-old London, I don't feel safe running on my own (and I don't like running with a partner ) I was skeptical about yoga, because I naturally veer toward something active and aggressive.. But MAN.. My entire body is thanking me for it. I'm toned from head to toe. My shape is less muscular and more slender/toned. I'm more flexible too. And the best part is that it nurtures my injuries, improves my posture and makes me feel more healthy. Not to mention it's an amazing de-stressor & I sleep better for it. As for milk / cheese, etc.. It's pretty much evil. I have to say it's my biggest vice I'm a total cheese-a-holic. Life without cheese is not worth living!! But it's bad, bad, BAD!!! My theory is that I buy really strong cheese so I don't need to eat as much of it to get my fix No scientific basis whatsoever behind that!! Don't think anyone has mentioned coffee / tea. Also bad. Just bad. Basically anything tasty is probably bad in large quantities!! Edit to say: Just to bring things back.. Nataly 38 #30 April 25, 2009 Quote Quote 1 - don't do groceries when you're hungry.. You buy all kinds of crap. On the flip side, I've found that if I eat just before going to the grocery, I don't buy nearly enough, and I must go back again in less than two days. I didn't say go do groceries when you've just stuffed yourself!! That has the totally opposite effect, like you said! You come home with pepto-bismol, a loaf of bread and a magazine!! Ideally you need to go when you're kind of indifferent either way. It helps if you make a list at home before you go shopping. I know it's really geeky, but if you actually stick to that list, you'll also end up saving lots of money (supermarkets are designed to entice you to impulse-buy). Yes.. I'm an accountant.. That reminds me, yoga also helps you meet tons of amazing women. And yeah, coffee is a killer. Too acidic, and anything acidic inhibits weight loss. eeneR 3 #32 April 26, 2009 Quote Not being funny, but a few things that help me stay trim: 1 - don't do groceries when you're hungry.. You buy all kinds of crap. 2 - don't buy any junk food when you're doing groceries.. If you don't have any junk in the house, you're a lot less likely to go out and get some. 3 - drink lots of water. Often when you think you're hungry, you're actually *thirsty*. If after a large glass of water you're not satisfied - you're probably hungry! 4 - nibble loads, but on fruit, carrots, celery, etc. 5 - this is the most painful: cut back on meat. You should eat a piece of meat NO BIGGER than your fist every day (that's just 1 chicken thigh, for example). Most people eat 3 or 4 times that. I agree with everything but number 5. I agree with the serving size, but you should be eating more then just one serving per day of protein. She is not a "Dumb Blonde" - She is a "Light-Haired Detour Off The Information Superhighway." eeneR TF#72, FB#4130, Incauto

Yeah, but protein can be found in stuff other than your typical meat. Like fish, eggs, pulses, nuts and seeds, soya products and vegetable protein for instance. And if your daily routine isn't particularly active, then your body doesn't need nearly as much protein as what most people eat."There is no problem so bad you can't make it worse." - Chris Hadfield « Sors le martinet et flagelle toi indigne contrôleuse de gestion. » - my boss

(Spicy red pepper hummus is the bomb!) And I use veggie meat made of textured vegetable protein, plus a powder supplement after I do weights. My muscle tone has only maintained or improved since I cut down on meat. I'm actually to the point where I can tell when my body's asking for protein vs. when it's asking for carbs or sugars, and a handful of green beas, kidney beans or garbanzos always hit the spot.OrFunV/LocoBoca Rodriguez/Sonic Grieco/Muff Brother #4411 -"and ladies....messin with Robbie is venturing into territory you cant even imagine!-cuz Robbie is

I'm talking more about the wholesome foods.. And obviously anything can be bad in excess (with the possible exception of good sex!! ) Anyway, how many articles say eggs are evil??!
