I'm on my blackberry so I can't link it now, but a recent study from the Netherlands showed a correlation between tonsil hockey and tonsil cancer and an increased incidence. I personally blame the increased incidence of tonsil cancer on the decreased incidence of tonsil removal. But I'm serious - it was a real study. My wife is hotter than your wife.
