1969912 0 #28 April 10, 2009 I've had more than a few $100 hamburgersre: Santa Paula. It's well worth visiting, but find out ahead of time which weekend (pretty sure it's one each month) is the informal "open house" where many/ most hangars are open with planes on display. It's amazing. skybill 22 #29 April 11, 2009 Hi Gup, Just up the coast at Oxnard is another cool airport restaurant (if it's still open, been a few year since I flew in there) and if it's still alive, Flows at Corona (I think). If you make it out east, there's Tom Wolf's "Aviators Grill and Pub" at Raeford NC. $1.50 beer on Wed. at 5 o'clock (It's got to be 5 o'clock somewhere!!!???) Then there was the "Hanger" at Reno Stead Field (although it was on the way outa' the airport it was a great hangout at the Reno Air Races!! Even got a demo into the place on Race Day after the races for burgers and beer (lots and free!!) compliments of the Hanger and Skydive Instead remember Clide??SCR-2034, SCS-680 III%, Deli-out
BillyVance 34 #30 April 13, 2009 Quote LOL. That would be Harris Ranch. http://harrisranch.com/gettinghere.php One of these days...... I've been there. Took a ride with my bro in his Bonanza out of the Watsonville airport to a few different points around CA. The ride included scud-running through a gap in the mountains to get under cloud cover on the other side. That was pretty cool.... My favorite spot is Sammie's Touch N Go at the Pell City, AL airport. The man who founded it was an avid pilot and experimental plane builder. He died doing a stunt maneuver just off the end of the runway when the engine quit and he crashed. The restaurant is now run by his daughter and son-in-law. Beerlight 0 #31 April 13, 2009 KHDO: Hondo, TX about 40 miles west of San Antonio, TX. The Flightline Cafe (originally on the field) is now in town. However, The Flight Line Cafe will come get you and take you a short 5 min to town for a great meal and bring you back... If you are in the area this is a great field to stop at. New Fuel pumps, new building, and nice folks!! Edit to add: Saturdays open (0730 to 1400) Sundays open (0730 - 1500)
