Play it again and make certain you're paying attention when he's comparing himself to Tom Petty. Hell, even just watch him when the DJ is introing him at the top fo the show. It's ALL about ego. Billy Bob thinks he should be recognized for his musical talents and ONLY those, but that's simply bullshit. He would not have gotten where he is if he wasn't already famous because of a dozen other things. His band clearly knows it and so does the DJ. Watch it again.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver
CSpenceFLY 1 #4 April 11, 2009 Watch it again and notice he gets more coherent as the interview goes on. I'm not disagreeing for you. We see interviews everyday that have guidelines attached to them. I would say everytime the president is on tv there are guidelines as to what will and will not be asked. But, he was fucked up during that show. At first I thought he was stoned, but then toward the end when he settled down, it was obvious he was not. I wonder what kind of conversation took place the next time the four band members were out of earshot of anyone else. I would suspect the other three would like to have reamed him a new one, were it not for the fact he probably gets doors opened for them due to his celebrity."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. Also, the two other band member's faces and mannerisms seemed to say "oh no, here we go...." jtval 0 #8 April 11, 2009 He was fucked up ,alright but no t on any chemical pill or anything. He was just a giant douchebag to the radio host who seemed to kill him with kindness. Billy walked into what I beleive to be a canadian DJ studio and acted like "the typical" anerican dick head who thinks he better than everyone else and should be treated differently. What a dickhead. I heard their music on the howard stern show. It's crap! there is no thought into the lyrics and the sound of him speaking (not singing) over the music is annoying! Imo, he tried to et a rise out of the DJ by bashing the canadian audience. If I walked passed Billy bob in the street I might not be able to stop myself from spitting on him! His attitude is fucking disgusting! (As is this post) My photos My Videos

Andrewwhyte 1 #10 April 11, 2009 Well he did get a rise. He was booed off the stage in Toronto last night and the CBC is reporting that the Boxmasters have canceled the rest of their Canadian dates.

Google news comes up with lots of articles on the fallout of that interview. JohnMitchell 16 #13 April 11, 2009 Must suck to be a decent, hard working musician and have a famous douche bag band leader screw up your chance to tour with Willy Nelson or any other big name.I really don't like those Hollywood types.

Ironic that Billy Bob was comparing himself to Tom Petty. I once saw an interview with Tom that convinced me he was one of the most modest celebrities out there. One of the humorous comments he made went something like this: "Some musical artists reach success, but are insecure about whether they are really that talented, or whether they are popular because of how they look. Me, I never had that dilemma.""There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones.
Kool-Aid 0 #15 April 11, 2009 I have heard from a studio drummer I know that Petty is a really nice guy......I think Bob did not like the interviewer and wanted to screw that interview up. Oh Yea!!!!!!!!!!

JohnMitchell 16 #17 April 12, 2009 I think Billy Bob is a little insecure about his music and himself. Quite a few celebs have musical side projects, and I think B.B. is worried about being considered a poser with a vanity band. For him, I think it is a valid concern. He needs to acknowledge to himself that he doesn't live in a vacuum, and that his celebrity opens doors that would otherwise be shut. He then needs to take care of his music and prove that he's the real thing. Now I want to go to one of his shows wearing a t-shirt saying "Tom wouldn't be so Petty."
