Pitbull83 0 #1 September 15, 2005 I am brand new to skydiving, and I'm going to my first day of training this weekend. I was curious what the purpose of a jumpsuit is, and why it is preferred over wearing something like a sweatsuit or whatever. Also, what type of jumpsuit do you recommend for a newcomer that is just interested in freeflying? Also, should I buy my own altimeter? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Regular clothes can easily get in the way, or cover handles. A jumpsuit prevents that, and provides a way to regulate your terminal speed according to how loose or tight the suit is. Use what they have for a while unless you have a lot of money, in which case you'll make a gear dealer very happy. People are sick and tired of being told that ordinary and decent people are fed up in this country with being sick and tired. I’m certainly not, and I’m sick and tired of being told that I am
GQ_jumper 4 #4 September 15, 2005 Hold off a bit before you buy your own, borrow one from the DZ. Being a student bad landings are inevitble, mess up one of the student suits they have for you jumpsuits are expensive.History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. MarkM 0 #5 September 15, 2005 Air flow reacts to different materials in different ways(creating or removing drag). A jumpsuit keeps that the same from jump to jump. And also normal clothing can get in the way of your handles. When you get off student status that's a good time to buy your own cheap jumpsuit. Then when your landings get better you can spend too much money on one, just so you can look cool
 skybytch 273 #6 September 15, 2005 You may find this article helpful.
