Art?

Recommended Posts

I have a friend who has some pertty unusual and disturbing art, but he actually paints it and has cultural substance. His work can be, and is greatly appreciated.

This untalented pile of arrogant refuse is just repulsive...

I don't find it repulsive, but it's not a very original concept in art, it's reminiscent of a lot of the psycho-tropic induced art of the 60-70, Merely done with new tech.

Nor does it, I think, actually have anything substantial to say.

If a person wants to make grotesque art, fine, no problem, but it ought to be -about- something.

Take Maplethorpe for instance. You might not LIKE it, but it was absolutely ABOUT something.

Some of his work is about something some of it is just shock value. I've seen a couple of exhibits of his work, i like most of it and i "get" most of it but some of it I think he did for a laff:ph34r:

Hey Id rather look at that than the "Art" where the guy tied a dog to a post in a art gallery and let it starve to death and called it art.

Ok I looked it up and there is a bunch of unknowns and nobody really knows what happened to the dog.

What??!!! :(

You didn't hear about that? It was big news. The subject was supposed to be all the stray dogs in his country (the dog probably would have died of starvation on the streets anyway, but thats an opinion not fact). The really odd thing is as much as everyone complained and protested no one did anything. If someone really wanted to help all they would have had to do is unchain the dog and walk out.
