Why, do the Oakland A's, wear a 'white elephant' on the sleeve of their jersy?

Chuck

You caught me with my pants down on that one???
:o

I'm disappointed![:/] Anyhow, when the new owner bought the team in 1908, his cronies and the city said that he had bought 'a white elephant'.

"Chuck" was once a term of affection for a female like "honey" "darling." Othello calls Desdemona it.

On a completely different topic. What's the gayest looking face card? My opinion is the Jack of Diamonds. Take a look.

I had never heard that before!
You're right! Maybe... a gay Jack' posed for that picture?

His name may have actually been Jack Diamond. Of course, "Jack" is a nickname for "John" so maybe his name was Johnny Diamond. Now, if that's not a name for the lead actor of Oklahoma, I don't know what is.

That was when players played for the 'team', not just who would shell out the biggest bucks for an under average player. That's when they were truly ball players!

Ain't it truth!

Willie got his nickname because he had the habit of breaking up double plays by not ducking or sliding under the throw from second to first. Took more than one shot to the forehead breaking up double plays. Had the scars to show for it, too!

Either post a trivia question or a piece of useless trivia. Be sure to check back for answers if you post a question.

I'll start with this.

Who can tell me what a Dipsy Doodle is when used in the context of the aviation environment.

Since there were no guesses.

After take off and the top up the SR-71 Blackbird will perform a manoeuvre called the Dipsy Doodle, here it passes mach 1 by a climb to 33,000ft followed by a sharp dive to allow the aircraft to traverse high drag transonic range without using a lot of fuel. The aircraft will then climb to at least 60,000 ft.

That's what I miss... the 'characters' of the game. Like the owner (Can't think of his name) of the White Sox who hired a midget ball player to get people to come to the games. Pitchers like 'Big Bird' and batters who 'really' hit homers without 'medicinal' help. sigh...

During the cold war the code to unlock all on the intercontinental missles was 00000000.

The command thought that the 8 digit combinations necessary to launch the missles was for candy-asses and the type of people that used the safety on their personal firearms.

Legitimate codes were not put in the missles till 1977.

What is a "Legitimate code"? Something other than zero?

That's a scary thought ... thanks for the "insight"...

The Amsterdam street Burgemeester Fockstraat (Mayor Fock Street) is actually outside the red light district.
