Jeth 0 #1 September 20, 2005 Ok, due to my chop, I need to get a new pc. But I'm not sure which kind to get. I need to get one now so I can use a demo canopy in my rig, but I haven't picked a new main yet. I've heard I should get F111. But doesn't it depend on what main I end up getting? Also, what size to get? Thanks for any advice! "At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! nicknitro71 0 #2 September 20, 2005 If this is for your PD 9 190 I'd suggest a 30" Z-po kill line. A 28" will do it too especially if you are going to downsize soon and keep the same PC; if not the 30" will be the better option.Memento Audere Semper
NWPoul 1 #3 September 20, 2005 What type/size of PC is recomended by manufacturer of your container? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
GravityGirl 0 #4 September 20, 2005 Please take into consideration the size of the pocket on your container. What was your rig built for? What manufacturer? Then consider your main canopy size. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!
diablopilot 2 #5 September 20, 2005 I've found a 28" ZP Kill line works pretty well for anything, is pretty uniform in it's performance life, and has a decent lifespan.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. phoenixlpr 0 #6 September 20, 2005 Is there any problem using a bigone? Like 32" or 33" killline?
Jeth 0 #7 September 20, 2005 Ok, I have a dolphin. But I don't have the PD 9-cell anymore. Thats the problem, I don't know what main I'm gonna get, so I need a generic pc that will work with most canopies. A zp pc will cause a faster opening than F111, right? So, like, if I get a Sabre, then maybe I want F111? But if I get a Spectre, I would be better with ZP? I did have a ZP one in my rig at first, but I was getting slammed so I bought a F111 one."At 13,000 feet nothing else matters." PFRX!!!!! darkwing 5 #8 September 20, 2005 Ask your canopy and container manufacturers. I'm pretty sure PD recommends F-111. -- Jeff My Skydiving History
diablopilot 2 #9 September 20, 2005 I think a 32 or 33" ZP pilotchute is too big for regular teminal freefall speeds. (i.e. 110mph+)---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
GravityGirl 0 #10 September 20, 2005 The pilot chute is a component of the container, not the parachute. Some manufacturers use F111, some ZP and others give you the option. The idea is to make sure it fits the pouch of your container. Too tight = hard pull. Too loose = premature. That being said, containers are built for a range of canopies. Part of the design includes the size of the Pilot chute to a certain extent. My GUESS with a Dolphin Container and a canopy OVER a 150 a 28" ZP pilot chute should due. The best thing is to contact your container manufacturer to make sure. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Peace and Blue Skies! Bonnie ==>Gravity Gear!

Cloudi 0 #12 September 21, 2005 Check out this http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/hrdopn.pdf article from the PD website. It mentions pilot chutes (#3) and other useful information. Your container manufacturer will have the final word on what works best with their system, though. Kim Watch as I attempt, with no slight of hand, to apply logic and reason.
