Gotta quit smoking!

Recommended Posts

I've got 7 cigarettes left, and a full box of Nicorette. I'm really starting to feel the physical affects of smoking and realize that this shit's gonna kill me, and plan to start tomorrow as a non-smoker.

My biggest worry is the DZ next weekend, assuming I make it out. I always smoke like a frick'n chimney at the DZ during the day and during beer-light activities.

Who's been here before and how'd you deal with it?

I won't be drinking this week. I'm worried about the DZ next weekend, that'll probably involve some boozing.

Next Monday I'm going to Bogota, and beween the anti-smoking laws in bars and the 8500' MSL, I think it'll be pretty easy there. I always feel winded as soon as I get off the plane there, it'd be nice not to have that.

How long you been off smokin?

70 hours later and I'm FREAKIN OUT MAN. LIPPY NEEDS TO SUCK ASH!!!!

The first two days actually weren't that bad, but today's aweful. I'm definitely not going jumping this weekend, I'm gonna stay away from smoking temptation for now.

I've got a Nerf anti-stress ball that helps, but some of my co-workers are getting pissed off that I keep whiffing it at them

I did the Chantix route and it made it really easy. If you slip up it's like smoking cotton, so you get _nothing_ out of it. Made the habit breaking part super easy.

Hang in there, breathe or yell through those cravings. This too, shall pass.

What it truly comes down to is do YOU truly want to quit. I used to have a job that paid me 70K a year. I wanted to quit and did for 6 months. The day I started smoking again was the day I got laid off and I'm still smoking. I want to quit again but nows not the right time. You can do it though. The first week is the hardest.

My understanding is that the third day is really, really tough. But if you make it through that one, then you have a really, really tough day that's forever behind you.

There are other tough days, but in different ways. This one is physical, and once your body starts to get over it, then the body can cooperate.

There is nothing more dangerous than breaking a basic safety rule and getting away with it. It removes fear of the consequences and builds false confidence. (tbrown)
