ncfitzge 0 #1 September 22, 2005 I read all the reviews on both Icon's and G4s. With the G4s they cost more but I have heard they are more comfortable. My question is, is the price tag the only difference? Or why should I do Mirage over the Icon. Thanks#148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" mattjw916 2 #2 September 22, 2005 A lot of people that write the "this is the best rig/dz/canopy/whatever" reviews often have not been to/jumped/worn much else. You have to decide which one you like either by demoing or borrowing gear. I could try to tell you the Mirage is "better" but I have never jumped an Icon so my opinion isn't worth much. I can attest to the quality of the Mirage though, I am very happy with mine, and I have jumped a bunch of different rigs. Another thing to consider is resale value and Mirages are great in that respect. Only time will tell regarding the Icons since there haven't been many used ones on the market yet.NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
fffff 0 #3 September 22, 2005 That is the only right thing to do, demo them and than make up your mind. The same here i've never jumped a Mirage of my size so its difficult to compare the two. good luck. F ------------------------------------------------ NIL VOLENTIBUS ARDUUM. AndyMan 7 #4 September 22, 2005 I have an Icon, my wife has a Mirage. They're both quite good. Buy what you like. To me, I want to see real differences to make me spend more money. _Am__ You put the fun in "funnel" - craichead.

ncfitzge 0 #6 September 22, 2005 Thats how I look at it. Just don't know if it is worth an additional $1000 bucks.#148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Woodpecker pulling out his pants pockets to the waitress
hexadecimal 0 #7 September 22, 2005 I've jumped both, and the Mirage would be my pick... but they're both good containers. Put some jumps on demos of each and decide for yourself
 damion75 0 #8 September 23, 2005 I have jumped both... and the Oddessy and I would choose to buy another Wings! From everything I have read and seen, most (yes most, not all!) containers are pretty solid, pretty safe etc so a lot of it is down to aesthetics and the individual fit. But then again, I do about 300 work dives a year at $40 a dive, so that's a shade under $12000 a year, so after earning $24000, my nearly 2 year old Mirage G4 and my nearly 1 year old Mirage G3 are looking pretty cheap. Sure, I had to pay for 2 PD 126 R's and reline both my Safire and Stilleto - but it looks like even if I include about 200 fun dives... From my experience, the Icon is as comfortable as my 2 previous Mirages - maybe even more so. Plus the Icon has some features I really like. If I were buying again tomorrow, I'd definately be ordering another Icon. It's a great rig and exceptional value for money. Blue Skies, fergs ps Had a cutaway last week. Although dropzone.com is an amazing resource for knowledge, if you want to make the best informed decision on one rig over the other contact the manufacturer and ask for a member of their sales team to tell you the ins and outs of their rig. Of course we will be biased towards our individual containers but we won't lie to you. We'll tell you the straight facts of what our product offers. We will also tell you comparisons of our rig compared to the others. I know the Icon very well and I know for certain that Aubrey knows our rig very well too. I would be more than happy to help you if you choose. My email is ward@miragesys.com and I'm sure Aubrey can give you some great info and his side too.
