phoenixlpr 0 #2 September 23, 2005 I had/tried a Merit170 for 3 jumps. Lines looked dirty and used. I have lost it after cutting away from 4 broken lines. It was kidda hard opening. It has recovered after 2-4 weeks exposed outside. I hope you could learn something from my case.
Tonto 1 #3 September 23, 2005 The Pintail was made by PISA around 1988/89 and was quickly named the Spintail due to its propensity for spinning malfunctions, which were very rare at the time - so much so that the canopy was grounded for a while. It had some odd idiosyncrisies such as 2 filled in cells and an unusual brake line mechanism. Performance - by todays standards would be shocking, but still prone to significant risk. We've learned a great deal in the past 17 years. I'll always remember the Pintail though, as it was my 1st canopy I had to cut away after an unusual bowtie type malfunction involving the bridle and pilot chute. tIt's the year of the Pig. OG-Tahiti 0 #5 November 17, 2010 Did about 4 jumps on a Merit 190 loaded at around 0.8 Openings are fast and brisky, pack it like a sabre 1. I would even psycho roll it to slow it down some more. Flew nice, good toggle response, but the flare is really deep in the stroke. Not my cup of tea, but if you get a killer deal on one it could be worth it. One plus is that it is half F111 and packs really easily and a bit smaller than other 190s"Common sense is not so common" - Voltaire Dudeist Skydiver #
likestojump 3 #6 November 17, 2010 Same here. I have jumped a Merit and while it packed/flew/flares well, the openings were quite firm.

hookitt 1 #10 November 19, 2010 Quote i know this is a long bump but does anyone have any pictures/ video of the pintail? I'm curious what brought this question on? I may have a video in my archives somewhere but I doubt it. I wouldn't show anyone anyway. I shot a video of my friend doing a straight in front riser approach on a Pintail. It collapsed and he didn't live through the impact. My grammar sometimes resembles that of magnetic refrigerator poetry... Ghetto
