I already know what I need to do to divert the water, just looking for suggestions for the morning.------------------------------------------ The Dude Abides. -

Misternatural 0 #3 February 18, 2009 Some sort of squirt gun with glycol or windshield anti freeze?- might melt the roofing though if you have asphalt shingles.Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. D S #3.1415

Misternatural 0 #5 February 18, 2009 Many de icers contain methanol which I think will dissolve asphalt- Is the dish on the roof? Propylene glycol might not damage the house since they use it at airports where there is lots of asphalt. Prolly even have a bottle there if you winterize the place, usually found under a sink cabinet somewhere.Beware of the collateralizing and monetization of your desires. Snow, snow melting, drips on satelite dish, freezes, lose signal Order a dish cover so that it's convex instead of concave so snow doesn't accumulate (maybe dry snow?) and if that doesn't work (wet snow?) switch to heated dishes. popsjumper 2 #10 February 18, 2009 I bet if you checked, some signal is getting through. You'll be able to get some things: Hockey Ice Capades Holiday on Ice re-runs etc. I used a propane torch on a long pole once. This is only good for the dish. Do not try it on the LNBs.My reality and yours are quite different. I think we're all Bozos on this bus. dropdeded 0 #16 February 18, 2009 Nice. Poured 3 quarts of luke warm tap water on it and bingoHave to get up there and put a small piece of metal flashing under the shingles to divert the steady stream of water that was dripping on it. BIGUN 1,422 #17 February 18, 2009 SATELLITE DISH OK. It is official. Every question known to mankind has been answered on DZ.com. Even Wikipedia doesn't have an answer for this one. Clear off all the pages on DZ.com and just put a big SEARCH function in the middle of the page like Google. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
