Canada is lame (Super Bowl related)

Recommended Posts

First off great game, congrats to the Steelers and the Cardinals for putting on a very entertaining game.

But ... as the title of this thread states

CANADA HAS GOT TO BE THE MOST LAME COUNTRY IN THE WORLD.

We don't get the good Super Bowl commercials, instead we get the lamest most "politically correct made for wussy chimps" commercials here. I guess this is because Canada is fully of politically correct wussy chimps who can not survive without their government nanny state masters to hold their hand from the cradle to the grave (am I allowed to slam my own country? LOL ... too late).

Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 23

and LOL I s##t you not, my pregame prediction was:

Pittsburgh 27 Arizona 21

Damn holding call for a safety caused me some major bragging rights.

Of course you are allowed to slam your own country. You may just want to make sure you are correct before slamming it though.

Some of the US commercials run in Canada, when the companies pay for them to run in Canada. generally we don't see those commercials because the companies paying for them see no need for the commercial to run in Canada.

Has nothing to do with a Nanny state or anything like that.

Right and the CRTC has nothing to do with this censorship. LOL

What censorship....many canadians were perfectly able to see the US commercials. Regions with an Over The Air "OTA" HD transmitter from CTV have to simulcast substitute.

Like I said above, it has nothing to do with censorship, but with protection of commerce. As such it is the Canadian Association of Broadcasters that fights for these rules...the CRTC does regularly rule in their favour when it comes to these issues.

The CRTC is really not much different from the US FCC. In some cases the FCC is actually much more restrictive.

You are just plain wrong.

How about watching on-line? I doubt they block the ads coming from the Internet.

I attempted to watch them on "HULU.COM" and I was greeted with a "We are sorry, our video can only be streamed inside of the USA, blah blah blah" error message. Now don't get me wrong, these are just commercials and not worth getting worked up about. I would have to ask a European friend to see if they get the same error message.

LOL ... it's a conspiracy!!!

But ... I still say Canada is LAME!!!

Nothing but a bunch of politically correct nanny state dependent wussy chimps in this country. Haha!!!

The Canadian advertisers do not use the Grey Cup as a launching pad for their new ads. Canadian football is doing better than it has for quite some time, but it remains a feeder league for the NFL. If the Canadian advertisers were to chose to launch their new ads on schedule like the Superbowl phenomenon it would likely be during the Stanly Cup finals or the World juniors; much better ratings.
The Calgary Stampeders beat the Montreal Allouettes in Montreal.
