quade 4 #1 February 3, 2009 In this poll I group religious predictions about the future (typically end of the world scenarios such as the Book of Revelations) in with other forms of fortune telling. I do not do this to denigrate them, but rather to point out that they are predictions that people do believe in and as such simply can not fit into the "No" group.quade - The World's Most Boring Skydiver

happythoughts 0 #3 February 3, 2009 People like to have a way of controlling their life. Somehow, life must have a set of rules and a path for success. If one understands the rules, then one can control the outcome. Astrology - a general understand of the direction and the pitfalls. "Be cautious when driving today." Religion - psychic communication will placate the omnipotent being and they will protect you. Reading the sacred book will tell you the future. Time would be better spent trying to actively pursue avenues that would change your life, rather than rolling chicken bones on the bottom of a wash tub. Skydave103 0 #6 February 3, 2009 OMG the end is near!! In less than 4 years the Mayan's predicted the world will end!http://www.2012warning.com/mayan-prophecy-2012.htm They were such good forecasters that they predicted their own demise! Ohh wait no they didn't. The Spanish took care of that. And the Mayan's definitely got that wrong. or search for your self http://www.google.com/search?q=2012+end+of+the+world&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=com.kodakgallery:en-US:official&client=firefox-a Much the same as the Y2K thing, the Cold war, Doomsday clock etc. all were going to be the end of days! Andy9o8 2 #8 February 3, 2009 QuoteI think we can predict the future (to an extent) by looking at events in the past. That's why I think the Poll question should be re-phrased. One can make reasonable predictions by extrapolating from past facts and experience, coupled with present data. Trained professionals do that all the time for a living, and we all do that all the time in our daily lives. What I think Quade is referring to is more "divining" the future, i.e., in some sort of supernatural way. And no, I don't believe that can be done. shropshire 0 #9 February 3, 2009 You poll options are too limiting. Astrology et al - No - pure guff. Predicting the outcome of events governed by the laws of science - yes to some extent. Can anyone "see" the future in any psychic sense - Not at all - That's just a load of bollocks. (.)Y(.) Kami-kaze 0 #10 February 3, 2009 One can predict how oneself will react to an incident and therefore set a direction, only if one understands the own self. Most of the time people are so concerned about everyone else to a point they thinks people are predictable. Meaning in theory if you an see the patterns, you can see the potential outcome. But there is no measurement to human greed and insecurity ... that's why thing are the way it is now.... boo To answer your Question, yes. Check out on the greed and insecurity factor and we can see our future...
