ChileRelleno 0 #32 January 24, 2009 No, that's food The majority of western civilization only views this as abhorrent due to our association with such animals as pets, not as food items. The manner in which our livestock is handled isn't much nicer... There isn't a NICE way to handle/kill/process a animal. And their techniques/processes are just different, according to their culture and means. The only thing about the original video linked, that made me sick, was the majority of the comments on it. .............................. OH... and, "Hi JT!" DougH 270 #39 January 24, 2009 Is it just me or does that live leak video look fake? It looks like video of cats tied on the trebble hooks, and then fishing footage. If it is real that is disgusting, but it looks like it could also be a video that was edited to look that way."The restraining order says you're only allowed to touch me in freefall" =P

There's another one on there that shows them being cut and processed for food. It shows a family eating. I'm uncomfortable with the cat one, but I'm not going to knock it because it's not me that's doing it. Did ya notice no one stood up for the worm getting thrown on the hook? It's society's social norms. (things that are accepted within a certain society) I'm no sociology major, but I do know that the way one is raised determines his/her habits. Do you notice that everyone that gets in an elevator turns around and faces the door? Do you notice that conversation between strangers is almost non-existent in the men's bathroom? Do you notice that the only animals people frequently try and protect the cute animals that have human-like behavior or are kept as household pets? (some DO try and protect all, but I'm referring to the majority) Do you recall the push a few years ago by animal rights groups to get people to stop eating tuna because dolphins were getting stuck in the nets? Notice they said nothing about the tuna? There was never a tunafish with it's own show and it tastes good. I feel bad about the kitten one, but again, that's as I was raised. In the society I was raised in, cats are pets, not food. The same goes with dog, although I've eaten dog from a streetcorner vendor (like the hotdog cart guys) while I was in Mexico. Tasted pretty good too. Not my thing though. Oddly enough, I did have a cat back when I was a kid, and it did end up on a fishing hook. Not intentional by any means on my part. I was going trout fishing at Lake Mission Viejo that morning. I set up my rod with my favorite lure, leaned the rod against the couch, set my tackle box next to the couch and rod, then went to use the bathroom. I came back and found my cat had mistaken it as a toy and ended up with the hook through it's lip. Needless to say, I went to the animal hospital instead of fishing that day. Some people refrain from beating a dead horse.
