Twoply 0 #1 January 20, 2009 I remodeled a few years a go and I jumped onto the no carpet- laminate floor thing. I can tell you I think the stuff is good looking and easy to clean, but dont forget to consider what room you're looking to install it in. Just like a typical smooth surface, it does nothing to absorb sound and actually makes noise echo a good amount more. It's much worse than I thought it would be. You can try to offset that with some really heavy drapes or throw rugs, but I dont have that option. The next house I have will have more carpet because we aren't scared to breakout the vacuum, and my wife is the loudest woman on earth. That chick can make noise in a padded room with a bag of cotton. Her toes are webbed too.

I have been in the process (temporarily suspended) of re-flooring my house with laminated flooring where carpet used to be, and I lay that black foam sheets down and the laminated flooring on top. I'm damned if I know whether I have echoes here at home or not.
