speedy 0 #6 October 14, 2005 I voted that I don't know. I do know that it is less than the 500 max over 2 years. Probaly somewhere around 200 - 300 and the batteries are being changed now. It's difficult to keep track when you have 2 or 3 rigs. I did do around 500 jumps on one set of batteries once. I never had problems with cypres failing it's self test's. Derek I didn't know exactly.. but I knew I only replaced the batteries a little over a year ago and they were ready to "go... " And so they did a couple of weeks ago
nbblood 0 #8 October 14, 2005 It's as easy as checking the date on the data card and going back to that date in my log book, but I know it's less than 500. Blues, NathanBlues, Nathan If you wait 'til the last minute, it'll only take a minute.
phoenixlpr 0 #9 October 14, 2005 QuoteIt's 2 years/ 500 jumps. Whatever, not even close to this either. 161 jumps anyway.
diablopilot 2 #10 October 14, 2005 Currently, no jumps as I've not jumped Cypres in two years. However I've done more than 1000 on a set before.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.

Derek That's kinda dumb dont you think? 2 years, ok... 500 jumps? How can they say that they are good for 500 jumps, the battery usage between two individuals who do 500 jumps could be quite different, did they do 10 jumps per day over 50 days, or 2 jumps per day over 250 days? do they have to reset it to change ground elevations, ... way to many variables for how the battery may have been used for "500 jumps".. If the battery is low before two years Cypress will let you know... I know it's just what the manual says, but just seems stupid. FGF #??? I miss the sky... Derek They should just say two years, scratch the 500 jumps crap. the cypress 1 lets you know the status of battery when it starts, and wont start if the battery is too low... My point is that different jumping styles will drain the battery differently, turning it on 250 days will drain it more than using it only 50 days, even with the same number of jumps.. Jumping at a place that requires you to offset ground level will also drain your batteries faster.. I just dont think its as easy as saying "500 jumps." Too many things come into play for battery usage. Make it 2 years or until cypress reports low battery. FGF #??? I miss the sky... I have heard, but do not know if it is true, that the Cypres1 can turn on but lack enough power to fire. In aviation, you see a lot of hours/time/whichever comes first maintenance requirements. Derek Have not heard the turn on but not fire thing, if that's true I'd think some people be worried about that before 500 jumps if they use their cypress certain ways... I dunno, I got a cypress 2 (which i dont know the jump limit on that yet... But dont think I have to worry about it yet ) FGF #??? I miss the sky... EvilLurker 2 #16 October 15, 2005 Heh, what if you're a JM that takes students up for IAD/SL every day but only makes 3 or 4 jumps a week? Their criteria makes no real-world sense. They would have a lot better idea of battery usage if they monitored how many times the unit did a Power-on self-test.

Samurai136 0 #18 October 15, 2005 Where's the option for: "Don't care. I own a Cypres2 or Vigil"? Seriously, Airtec GmbH is incredibly conservative when it comes to maintenance standards for cypres1. If cypres1 maintenance is to too much of a 'problem', buy some newer technology. Ken"Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
ladyskydiver 0 #19 October 15, 2005 Not many. I haven't hit the 500 jump mark, yet, and don't get the opportunity (unfortunately...so far) to get as many jumps per year as I'd like so I follow the 2 years and they get changed. They've been changed once so far and this fall/winter my Cypress is due for it's 4 year so it'll be gone for a bit. Life is short! Break the rules! Forgive quickly! Kiss slowly! bob.dino 1 #20 October 15, 2005 Not off the top of my head, but I do know when the batteries were last replaced and that on startup I get 6.38 volts. Good enough for me.
koppel 4 #21 October 17, 2005 Give or take last weeks jumps 350 in 14 months and am I pissed. wouldn't turn on this weekend. One set I installed for someone got 35 jumps and six months. I have noticed a trend for C1 batteries not to last as long recently (read last 18 months or so I guess) or maybe its just me. Anyone? Edit to add: wish I had one in my other rig though, even one with batteries that didnt lastI like my canopy... ...it lets me down.
