LuckyMcSwervy 0 #3 January 14, 2009 That's on my list of things to do this month. All of my neighbors use the same housekeeper.... she charges $100 for the 1st "big clean" on her 1t visit, then $60 a week after that. I'll have to find the checklist she uses, I have it around here somewhere. I remember thinking "you supposed to dust the door moulding??"!!Always be kinder than you feel. NWFlyer 2 #12 January 14, 2009 Quote Not 'hospital' clean...but better than Early American Bomb Shelter ~ like how I do it. Sounds like mine! In Seattle I was paying $75 for every two weeks cleaning for a 2 BR 1 1/2 BA townhouse, about 1,050 square feet. I haven't set up cleaning here yet as I can't fit it into the budget right now, but my apartment manager (who has the same size apt as mine) says it'll be about $60 for the person he uses. That's for a 2BR 2BA apartment around 1,400 square feet. My mom, in small town Virginia, pays $40 or $45 for a 2,500 square foot house (3BR, 3BA, plus finished basement). How's that for some price points?"There is only one basic human right, the right to do as you damn well please. And with it comes the only basic human duty, the duty to take the consequences." -P.J. skymama 37 #18 January 14, 2009 I've never had a housekeeper. The kids have always had chores, but I usually end up "fixing" their cleaning jobs after they're done anyway. I've been told my standards are too high, but clean is clean. If there's still dirt or dust, it's not clean! She is Da Man, and you better not mess with Da Man, because she will lay some keepdown on you faster than, well, really fast. ~Billvon
SarahC07 0 #19 January 14, 2009 Not to sound condescending/critical, but I'm REALLY suprised at the number of people with housekeepers. Maybe I'm cheap or maybe I don't make enough money... but I just don't see how that's necessary... unless you have multiple youngish children.

Definitely not a necessity, in our case it was a convenience & luxury... 3 kids, 3 large dogs, 5000 sqft house in the woods (lotta dirt tracked in)...couple of parents with jobs that just make it a choice of time spent cleaning or doing fun stuff with the kids. Don't have a 'house keeper' these days as we're down a dog and a couple kids...place is cleaner on it's own. ~ If you choke a Smurf, what color does it turn? ~

I think think it benefits me to NOT have a housekeeper - keeps me sane. However, I might pay someone to JUST clean my shower. I HATE cleaning the shower.
