Anyone from Hawaii?

Recommended Posts

Hi all!

I'm heading back home to San Diego next week and am stuck with a 3 day layover in Honolulu (god forbid - a layover in Hawaii! :P ).

Random question, but if anyone has spent time there or lives there, can you recommend a cheap (but safe) place to stay? I've been working in Cambodia the past few years and am on a fairly tight budget coming back to the States.

Cheers!

Can't help you with the cheap place to stay in Hawaii, but why were you in Cambodia?

i just moved to the mainland after living in Hawaii for 6 years. I miss it A LOT!!!!! Jumping weather can be iffy though. Anyway, there are hostels on Oahu that you can use. most of them are on the windward side like Kailua or Kaneohe. Here is the link: http://www.hostels.com/us.hi.oa.html. Good luck, reserve one soon and don't bother with hotels. They're outrageously expensive. If my wife and I still lived there you could crash with us but were in suckville now. lol.
I'm completely in favor of the separation of Church and State. My idea is that these two institutions screw us up enough on their own, so both of them together is certain death.

Thanks so much for the advice! I'd thought about booking a hostel but didn't know if I was too old. :$ I lived on Maui back in the early 90's but have never been to Oahu - looking forward to a few days relaxation before getting back to (apparently) cold San Diego. I haven't jumped since last year and have heard that the winds/landing can make the dz there a little iffy, so I think I'll just be enjoying the ocean this time around.

Thanks again for the input - greatly appreciated!
