jceman 1 #5 December 13, 2008 See my entry in Errors and Bug Reports. This sort of thing did not happen until the new owners took over and started adding advertisers. Someone is not vetting the ads properly. Is the change to corporate ownership leading to the pursuit of the dollar at the cost of driving subscribers off? Sure looks that way from here. Edited to add -- I had to hit refresh three times after submitting this post in order to return to a working copy of the forum. Bad juju. Faster horses, younger women, older whiskey, more money. Why do they call it "Tourist Season" if we can't shoot them?

PhreeZone 20 #14 December 13, 2008 Jack, read my post in the Bugs forum addressing this. This has little to do with vetting advertisers but more with site level security on 3rd party web hosts and personal computers. I'll bet right now on your personal computer you have programs running with known vulnerabilities in them that would allow someone to run remote code on your PC with minimal interaction. Adobe Acrobat, Internet Explorer 7.0, SQL server and a few other major programs have all had 0 day attacks launched against newly discovered vulnerabilities in them in the last 4 weeks, 2 of those since Tuesday of this week. Short answer from your side apply the latest patches and updates for your Anti-Virus, Adobe reader and your web browser. I have fired off a message to the on call support team to see if they can help with this right now. I'll keep you updated with what they say.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
dgskydive 0 #15 December 13, 2008 I haven seen and pop ups yet, but....... here is a quote from HH in the announcements forum QuoteAre they going to flood us with pop-ups? No they’re not. You know how I feel about pop-up ads. Feel free to visit any of their other enthusiast sites and you’ll see there are no pop-ups on any of them. After enough epileptic fit inducing animated banner ads, being unable to get away from things which blow up to full screen windows, and being unable to have a couple windows open at once on my small laptop screen due to the clutter, I gave up and installed the Firefox Adblock Plus plugin. Loosing the few small tasteful ads for products I might actually buy was a small price to pay to get rid of the crap.

PhreeZone 20 #19 December 13, 2008 For Windows users go out to www.windowsupdate.com and make sure all the High/Critical patches are installed. You can install others if you want but those are the minimum ones to install. Start Acrobat by clicking on it from the Start Menu and then inside Acrobat click on Help - Check for updates and apply any patches it says are needed.Yesterday is history And tomorrow is a mystery Parachutemanuals.com
jceman 1 #20 December 13, 2008 Erk, I have all current M$ updates to IE7 and XP SP3 as of the posting of my report in E & BR, Avast is also up to date -- will check on Adobe if I can get this post to go through. It's funny that this is the only site affected that I have seen and all other functions are fine -- call me a skeptic; but I still feel site's management has become lax.
