Brits...what is a sarnie?

Recommended Posts

Hi Dave,
Some years ago so the story goes, the Earl of Sanwich (some locality in jollyole' UK) being an avid gambler would summons his staff to prepare some meat or whatever between two slices of bread for he to eat at the gambling table, "thus the 'Sanwich!!'" So does the tearm "sarnie" predate the term "Sanwich??"

Slang term for a sandwich.

Another one is banjo, as in "Bacon Banjo."

You cannot get a bacon banjo. There must be an egg component so when you bite into it and the egg squirts down your front you can brush it off in a manner resembling someone playing the banjo - hence bacon and egg banjo.
I'm drunk, you're drunk, lets go back to mine....

Bacon Banjo with HP sauce has the same effect therefore you can have a Bacon Banjo.
I don't care how many skydives you've got,
until you stepped into complete darkness at
800' wearing 95 lbs of equipment and 42 lbs
of parachute, son you are still a leg!

Hi Zeppo,
One more for ya', "The Dagwood!!" From the "Blondie" comic strip, Dagwood Bumstead would make these very tall Sanwiches, hence "The Dagwood!" How tall can you make one without it falling apart when you pick it up??
