fireballgrl 0 #2 November 21, 2008 I always carry my laptop on board and I am not traveling with Louis Vuitton bags so this might explain why I have never been a victim at that airport However it does make sense that LAX would have such a crime ring... happythoughts 0 #3 November 21, 2008 Quote You can get it back. http://cbs2.com/goldstein/Stolen.Items.LAX.2.869159.html A while back, 60 Minutes did an "expose" on theft by baggage handlers at Miami International. Apparently, the theft was so well hidden (sarcasm alert) that 60 Minutes had to sit in the employee parking lot and wait for one shift change. Baggage handlers were carrying garbage bags full of stolen goods to the parking lot. The only mitigating circumstance was the amount that they could carry. They fire whoever is on film and then it is back to business as usual. So, think for a minute... if TSA security is so wonderful, how can anything be stolen? My main thought is this - they are checking passengers for explosives... If it is so easy to ransack luggage and take stuff out, then how easy is it to put stuff in? Like explosives? LisaH 0 #4 November 21, 2008 I don't trust any airport. Before I close my bag, I take a picture of the contents and I have a piece of paper with my name, the date, flight number and list of contents sitting right on top. It stays there. Yea, I'm a freak about it. Be yourself! MooOOooOoo

They're checking passengers for drugs, getting people and the courts used to warrant-less searches in public areas, and giving people an illusion of security. Hostile operatives would never demean themselves by getting low-paying airport jobs where that was possible.
