So I bought this new MacBook...

Recommended Posts

thinking it was goin to be the fucking shit.... and it is. but, the iMovies suck's some big major technological dick. I heard so many say good things about the MacBook. So I was as BestBuy and figured is was going to do everything I ever wanted with it (photo/video editing wise), and bought it. But that seems not to be the case. It's the most basic shit known to any video/photo editing software. Not saying i don't like the product as a whole but some shit gangster ass.

wow, tell us how you really feel.

Personally, I love my imac and macbook. does everything I need it to do and very simply. and it works. If you want a complex video mastering application, then you have to spend the $$ on expensive video mastering software.

It's strange that they changed iMovie the way they did.

iMovie used to be one of the most intuitive noobie editing programs on the planet. Anybody could use it. It wasn't powerful, but certainly powerful enough to edit "The Blair Witch" project if it came to that.

This new version does, indeed, suck ass.

That said, for a couple of hundred bucks, you can pick up Final Cut Express and it's one of the best non-professional products around.

i heard the new macbook is not compatible with any firewire device? i was told that if you want to connect any firewire camera or camcorder you need a macbook pro

similarly i was told that it is not possible to install final cut pro on it(not that its not compatible but that its blocked from being installed) the thought process apparently being if you want to use pro software buy a macbook pro

anyone heard this?

What features are you looking for? Are you using imovie '08?
Fortunately, I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug, uh, regimen to keep my mind, you know, uh, limber.

Go here: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/imovieHD6.html
Get Imovie 06. You can also get plug ins for it at : http://www.geethree.com/

I work for Apple. I will check on the issue with Final Cut. I know of no reason if or why Final Cut can't be put on a Mac Book. It is true that Apple left out fire wire support on the Mac Book ( why they did this no one seems to know). There are, however, adapter cables that will allow the use of fire wire devices.

Wrong. There is no reason why FCP can't be run on a Mac Book.
