He told me he'd had about 30 phone calls about this and is feeling very loved right now. Do or do not, there is no try -Yoda

lawrocket 3 #15 April 16, 2007 Latest news on yahoo is 22 dead, including the shooter.I've known a LOT of people from Virginia Tech. I remember last year about the guy who shot a couple of people hiding out at the Virgina Tech Campus. This is horrible news. My wife is hotter than your wife. BillyVance 34 #16 April 16, 2007 Quote This is probably the 1st time I've heard of this type of random shooting at a university. It's happened before... The most infamous incident was the University of Texas shootings back in the 1960's I think. There's a link above in another post referencing that."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

stitch 0 #19 April 16, 2007 Quote I think he was being sarcastic Billy. No. I wasn't. Ever since "Columbine" there has been a rash of shootings at high schools, but not at colleges and universities. I don't believe the shooter in the Whitman tower incident was a student."No cookies for you"- GFD "I don't think I like the sound of that" ~ MB65 Don't be a "Racer Hater"

Are they saying the VT killer was a student? I didn't see any references to that. By the way, a look at the link in an earlier post seems to indicate that Charles Whitman was a student at UT... whether he was or not at the time of the shooting, it doesn't say."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban

Lindercles 0 #22 April 16, 2007 I wasn't around in the 60's when Whitman did his thing at UT, but I can tell you that over 40 years later that incident is still very much a part of our collective conscience (see here). My heart goes out to everyone involved, and everyone associated with VT. This is the sort of thing that sticks with you.

jumpjunkie 0 #25 April 16, 2007 Quote This is probably the 1st time I've heard of this type of random shooting at a university. There was an incident a year or two back where several players from a basketball team were assaulted and shot. Luckily none of them were killed. I think it happened in the northeast. Drexel University, maybe? Tubing, so easy a caveman can do it.
