SBS 0 #28 September 5, 2007 Right, but what the speculation is relating to the non-function of the beacon is that it may have been destroyed in fire, whether that is the one on the plane or this watch that he may have had. If that is the case, it seems like it would make the crash, if that is what it is, more visible._____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness... True, but if there was a fire, assuming he has crashed, and given the dry state of the terrain right now, one would only have to proceed to the edge of the wild fire still burning to find the source (i.e. the aircraft)"Always do right. Rookie120 0 #30 September 5, 2007 QuoteJust speculation, but being only 100 miles away, wouldn't a plane that is burning that much be relatively easy to spot? I have no idea. You would think so.If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!

SBS 0 #32 September 11, 2007 So Richard Branson paid to have Google Maps updated and take new pictures...there's a link where people are given a small square of land that they can look at online...if there is nothing there, they pass, or if there is something that is possibly an airplane, they flag it. If anyone is interested, it's on www.stevefossett.com. They have a couple of pretty substantial leads, but it's unbelievable that it's been this long. We thought of going and jumping into one of the possible sites, but just imagine getting hurt and then having 2 rescue efforts to worry about... Anyway, we all know what the likely outcome is, but until something is found, I guess there is always a glimmer of hope. -S _____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness... SBS 0 #35 September 11, 2007 It's just frustrating. The lady here at work found it, and it's been tough getting a hold of someone. One person says it's been searched, another says it hasn't. She's been friends with Steve for 14 years, so has talked to the people who are heading up the search, and emailed Richard directly since he'll likely listen and make sure that it's acted upon. This aircraft is 17 miles from the ranch, looks like it's on the ground (which it 'could' be flying and look like it's on the ground in the picture), wasn't there last week, is about the right size, and a seemingly bright color. *crossing fingers*_____________ I'm not conceited...I'm just realistic about my awesomeness...
