mjosparky 4 #2 November 29, 2005 You can find the Smart reserve here http://www.aerodyne-int.com/sportlight/products/smartTech.asp And PD reserves here. http://www.para-gear.com/canopyspecs/canopysizing.PDF Now if you want to know what will fit in your TJ, do a search of the net. The internet has some great information on it. You should try it sometime. SparkyMy idea of a fair fight is clubbing baby seals

There's a canopy pack volume chart in there near the back, just in front of the container order forms. Seems I use the catalog as a reference a lot. udder 0 #6 September 5, 2006 Im bringing this one back from the dead. Anyone know of the pack volume of the jump shack reserves(Angelfire)? How big does their 176 pack up? Is it like a PD-160/Raven1 or closer to a PD-176? Fucking non-standardised measuring systems..."In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." udder 0 #14 September 6, 2006 The plot thickens. I recieved this, Hello Peder, No, it's always been a 177. It may be mislabeled? At any rate, the pack volume of the 177 is 475-500 cubic inches. Hope this helps, - Tim That was from Tim at Jumpshack. Now I have an even bigger question. It apprently always been a 177 but it's now listed as a 180. And it's labelled on the canopy as a 176... This also deviates from the quoted 416 cubic inches listed in the Jumpshack manual that is linked to in an above post. And worse, if what he says is true is comparable to a PD 218-R. But that is not possible because that means a Pd218 is the same size as a tempo 210.... which pack quite small. There are a few poeple with 210's in J3's. Think im just going to give it to the rigger and see if it fits. Another $60.... AHHHHHHHHHHH"In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." teason 0 #15 September 6, 2006 On the jumpshack canopy volume chart, 450-500 is the recomended container size for an Anglefire 177. 416 is the projected canopy volume. The canopy volume can change based on envioronmental conditions and your riggers ability to manipulate bulk. That's why the recomended container size is higher than the projection. As Tim does the container design at Jumpshack, his answer is probably based with the container's well being in mind. Just to compare, the recomendations on container size for a PD 176 W/Dacron are similar. As for Ravens, I can pack a Raven I into my 350 even through they recomend a 425. Doing so in ill advised, however, because you can greatly increase the wear and tear on the container.I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. udder 0 #16 September 7, 2006 So you're saying the 176 Angelfire with microline has the volume of a PD-R 193 with microline? Why build a reserve that does not compete in the market place? There's no way in hell that's going to fit comfortably in my J3 I hate the feeling of brick like reserves. Makes the whole rig uncomfy. Thanks for the info."In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." Eazy-E
teason 0 #17 September 7, 2006 Um... ok, What?! I believe manufacturers build reserves based on what design they feel will perform the best, not what they think will fit in your TJ. Now, as for your TJ... ... in what world can you squeeze a 170 of any manufacturer easily into a TJ? Did someone sell you this container saying "oh yeah, it used to have a 170 in it! It'll be perfect for your first set of gear!" If so I've seen this before. You've been had. Your rig was made for a 126-135 reserve. Call Sunpath or check out thier website www.sunpath.comI would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet. udder 0 #18 September 7, 2006 DUDE... Look above. It's a J3. It made for 170 ZP main (or 190 f-111) and PD-R160/Raven 1 reserve. And I've just recieved an email from a rigger familiar with them and he reckons it pack pretty similar to a Raven 1. So it should be ok. It'll be many many moons before my 200lb ass will be under a 135...."In one way or the other, I'm a bad brother. Word to the motherf**ker." teason 0 #19 September 7, 2006 ooops, sorry. I'm an ass. I was looking at the Original poster's container size which was a TJ. At any rate, Sunpath does recomend a J3 for a 160 - RavenI range. For a 176, they recomend a J4. I just get bent when I think someone has been decieved by someone else trying to get rid of gear.I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
