Can i get to see the Northern light from either near Vancouver or Toronto?
If not where would be a good place to see them (excluding Alaska and the Arctic Circle)

You have to have fairly energetic solar activity to see them this far south. We saw them a t LP a few years ago...awsum..

PLUS it has to be clear.... and in winter when the nights are long in Vancouver or Seattle.. your chances of getting clear skies..... slim to none.

Jeanne's right. Even here in Edmonton, which is a fair bit farther north than Vancouver, hasn't seen much of them in the last several years.

Fort McMurray, Alberta, which is a 5 hour drive north of here still gets a glimpse of them. But that's probably too far off your travel plans. Plus the cold there would bite.

I think the best time to see the Aurora.. is during sunspot maximum events.. and that is going to be a few years off.

We are at a solar minimum.. so I dont think they are going to be seen for a while on the 11 year cycle

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunspot

A minimum in the eleven-year sunspot cycle may happen during 2008.[1] While the reverse polarity sunspot[2] observed on 4 January 2008 may represent the start of Cycle 24, no additional sunspots have yet been seen in this cycle.

On the plus side, this has been an unusually long minimum, and typically when the cycle does fire up after a long minimum it's stronger than average.

There you both go getting all "scientific" on us.

I'm just going off of my own personal view of it, outside the city lights.

They were much brighter when I was a kid. Now, not so much.

You'd be hard pressed to find a correlation between IQ and cannabis knowledge and/or use.
