grimmie 186 #1 September 29, 2008 With Paul Newman's passing I started thinking about Slapshot and his character. I saw him in an interview say that Reg Dunlop was very close to his own personality. The Hanson Brothers, Dave "Killer Carlson" and Ogie Oglethorpe all have a special place in the hearts of all hockey players. So how many jumpers out there want to get together here in SoCal and play some hockey and make a 'Slapshot' jump...everyone in their favorite hockey jersey? There is a rink about 45 minutes south of Perris in Escondido. We could make some jumps on a Saturday, go down to the rink for a game and toast to 'Reg'! We would even let you Canuckians come on down and we'll show you how to jump, you show us some hockey skills!
BirdWoman 0 #2 September 29, 2008 For once I wish I was over in Cali. Grim, you know that if I were there I would join you in a heartbeat. Of course, I would have to wear one of my Avs jerseys ...perhaps either my Sakic or Roy "I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
BillyVance 34 #3 September 29, 2008 That is my favorite Newman movie. I never get tired of watching that one. Sorry, I haven't skated in 20 years so count me out on that game."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
grimmie 186 #4 September 29, 2008 And feisty, you know I would have a Pens #66 jersey on! We need a "Slapshot' boogie!

grimmie 186 #6 September 29, 2008 Should we hold the boogie and game in Johnstown, PA?
Rookie120 0 #7 September 29, 2008 The best part of that movie is when he went to the airport to pick up the brothers and they were working over the coke machine. Priceless! I smile just thinking about that part. If you find yourself in a fair fight, your tactics suck!
BirdWoman 0 #8 September 29, 2008 Yeah I know. I wouldn't blame you, either. I would love to see the Pens go all the way again this year, mainly for Sid. Hmm, a slapshot boogie you say? We should collaborate more on this idea..."I don't know where it is that I'm going, but wherever it is there I'll be!" --quoted by me
grimmie 186 #9 September 29, 2008 There are a LOT of jumpers that play hockey. We could jump all day and then watch the movie! Then play a game or two the next day. And my favorite part of the movie is when the Hanson finally get their chance!

And my favorite part of the movie is when the Hanson finally get their chance! Was that before their first hockey game? When they started skating in a line and beating the other team to a pulp? That was fucking awesome! Capped off by them standing for the national anthem and the referee skating up to one and saying he runs a clean game no fighting, etc, etc, and the Hansen brother yells "I'm listening to the fucking song!"
