Amazon 7 #29 September 26, 2008 There is nothing quite like going 1000 MPH+ right down on the deck with a very good pilot at the controls.. trying to scare the bejebeeies out of you for some payback...... some of the most thrilling and special moments of my life. I've had some pretty harry moments but the highest pucker factor had to have been while flying at 170 mph and 25' agl on low light level NVGs with mountains on our port and starboard and our formation flew into a fog bank. Another time would have been when picking up 35 fully equipped marines we had to land on a mountain side so small the ramp was at a 45 degree angle so the marines couldn't make it up. They just kept sliding down so I ended up having to throw each one of them in by their asses. Equivalent to shotputting 250 pounds over a 6 foot fence 35 times while the pilots are yelling at you to hurry up and the tail rotor is only 6 feet away. Unfortunately I can only ever experience 1,000 mph low on the deck in a video game. www.FourWheelerHB.com
Amazon 7 #32 September 26, 2008 Quote 1000 MPH? Damn, you got me beat by 650 mph. Where was your "deck"? South of Homestead AFB headed to the Cay Sal Bank.. about 100' off the water in an F-4.. like I said.. the pilot was trying reallly hard to scare the shit out of me. Flying with a big kid.. who has never realized his mortality yet... can be "interesting" Edited to add for Downwardspiral...yes you can... if you have the bucks...http://www.incredible-adventures.com/migs/planes.html
