windcatcher 0 #6 September 5, 2008 Oh, do we have a fitness thread going around here somewhere? And to answer the question, I have no fitness whatsoever anymore, unless you count chasing after toddlers all day. Mother to the cutest little thing in the world... I was just wondering how everyone was doing and if they'd kept it up.

guppie01 0 #10 September 5, 2008 Still hitting the beach boot camp 3 x a week. I have one more week and then I'm on vacation for 2 weeks. Definitely a change in body (have not taken any measurements, but my clothes are loose), however the weight is still stagnant! g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" tigra 0 #11 September 5, 2008 The last few weeks, I've kind of been off my workout schedule- maybe just twice a week instead of 4 times most weeks. Life and work are sort of getting in the way, but I'll get back on track! Thanks for the reminder. These weekly threads really do help.
simplyputsi 0 #12 September 5, 2008 Quote however the weight is still stagnant! g sweetie, weight doesn't mean much. I lost a few inches off my waist and have not lost a pound in a few months. If you are noticing your clothes are looser that should be all the proof you need that something is working and things are changing.Skymama's #2 stalker -
hungarianchick 0 #13 September 5, 2008 I'm training for my first road race!!!! I can run on a treadmill until the cows come home but I've never liked running on pavement. It'll only be a 5K and I'm not in it to win it, but I still feel like I need more time to be fully ready. "I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food." skybytch 273 #14 September 5, 2008 It's not. Unless you count playing XBox as exercise. Getting 3-4 miles of walking in on the two days a week I have to go to the main campus but other than that... I need a new goal.

When I get back from vacation we are going to change the diet and exercise program geared more torward the weight loss. I'm already stalky and musclely - I don't want to just continue gaining muscle it'll be too much for my height. I've been on this program for 5 weeks now.... tracking my weight from the start, after week 2 my weight increased, it has since started to go down, but I'm still not even at where I orignally started at. I'm committed though.... not only for my sense of self, but for my health. g"Let's do something romantic this Saturday... how bout we bust out the restraints?" downwardspiral 0 #16 September 5, 2008 I haven't trained in 4 weeks due to lower back pains. After a visit to the chiropracotr last week and a massage I should be ready for training again come Monday.www.FourWheelerHB.com
Nightingale 0 #17 September 5, 2008 Your weight is really irrelevant... it's size you're concerned with. Muscle weighs more than fat, and it burns calories, so gaining muscle is a good thing! A pound of fat is a lot bigger than a pound of muscle, which is why your size is changing but your weight is not. Pick up a weight watchers scale from Bed Bath and Beyond that tells you body fat pounds and body fat percentage as well as overall weight and that will help you better track your progress, because you will see yourself losing fat. Nightingale 0 #18 September 5, 2008 By the way, thank you SO much for the advice on the supplements! I ran them by my doc and pharmacist, who gave me the okay, and I've been taking them since Tuesday. I had class yesterday, and I am barely even sore. I feel like I worked out, not like I hurt everywhere. Last week after class, I could barely move, and this week I worked harder, did more, and improved noticeably, with hardly any next-day ouch! Edit: short week... I had my days wrong.
simplyputsi 0 #19 September 5, 2008 You know I have stuff for health. Best advice I can give you is cut out as much sugar as you can as soon as you can. No soda, but I think you don't drink those anyway. I dunno. Juice has a good deal of sugar as well. You want weight loss, loose the sugar. I know it sucks.Skymama's #2 stalker -
tigra 0 #20 September 5, 2008 I don't know about those body fat monitor scales. I went from a size 14 to a 6, gained a LOT of muscle and my health-o-meter still shows me as borderline obese. The last time my trainer measured with the calipers, it was almost 10% lower than what my "fancy" scale shows. I trust my eyes, the trainer and those calipers MUCH more. MrFreefall383 0 #25 September 5, 2008 I'm going to be brutally honest. I haven't worked out at all for a month. Off-days are spent doing chores and catching up on life because I can't during the workday. And duty periods... well, I've been doing the job of a Coastie, saving lives, losing sleep and loving it. At least I'm doing the job and not sitting around watching everyone else do it, but operating on so little sleep doesn't leave me much juice for working out. I actually almost fell asleep at the wheel today late morning heading into Boston for some uniform items at the Exchange. That might be my breaking point though, at least I hope it is. I can't be falling asleep at the wheel, and I know I have more energy when I'm working out regularly, so this weekend I'm starting back up no matter what. On the plus side, doing so much SAR work has convinced me that my future is definitely in saving lives. As such, I'm going to ask my Commanding Officer about his experiences being a Surfman, see if I can follow his example."If at first you don't succeed... well, so much for skydiving." - aviation cliche
