mattyblast 0 #1 December 15, 2005 The first time you bought your own brand-spanking-new canopy, what color scheme did you choose, and what was your inspiration? (Note: I'm not looking for recommendations, here--just interested in hearing the stories!)"DOOR!!!"
FrogNog 1 #2 December 15, 2005 When I first buy a new canopy, I'm thinking all black with black lines. (I'll go Dacron if I have to.) Someone at my DZ has an all-black canopy and I love seeing that thing. -=-=-=-=- Pull.
Pawel 0 #3 December 15, 2005 I picked my colors close to the Jump suit colors, close to container colors, and close to FF suit colors. If you want to go all out and pick rainbow colors go for it just remember when time comes to sell it who will want it.
wmw999 2,534 #4 December 15, 2005 Well, bounce-n-blend was in fashion, so I had it as white topskin on one side with a rainbow of brown-tan-green-yellow on the bottom, with a white bottom skin and the same on the top on the other side. In flight you could barely tell the difference, but was easy to pack. And I still kind of like bounce-n-blend colors -- I'd definitely consider them if I were ordering new gear today. moonglo 0 #5 December 15, 2005 I picked blues and purples to go with the gear I owned back then, but after 3 cutaways I wish I'd picked something brighter- it always lands navy side up and is hard to find!

billvon 3,070 #7 December 15, 2005 Of the canopies I've ordered new - A rainbow with all neon A rainbow with all neon Neon yellow/orange I figure visibility under canopy helps you survive, and visibility after a cutaway helps you recover your investment. CrazyL 0 #8 December 15, 2005 Highly visible for my own safety, easier to recover if it does'nt blend with terrain and trash.
ncfitzge 0 #9 December 15, 2005 Just ordered my new one. The two end cells are neon yellow, top and bottom skins of the rest of the cells are white and all cell dividers are neon yellow. I saw one and it just had a glowing effect to it... Fitz#148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" bob.dino 1 #11 December 16, 2005 I didn't want to wait, so I got the PD stock colours - Cyan, White, Blueberry. The first one I chose the colours on was my Sam - Gold, with a couple of dark cells in the centre, so it doesn't show discolouration from packing. CrazyL 0 #12 December 16, 2005 HeheheheheHahahahaha. Now that was funny. Sorry your color blind Fitz. Good choice in my opinion dude.
Chrissay 0 #13 December 16, 2005 My first custom canopy was lime green, silver and purple. I wanted to be visible when people were above me looking down, and wanted to be visible when people were on the ground looking up. ...plus it matched my colors. skyfreek 1 #14 December 16, 2005 flourescent yellow with a black cell on one side. very visible from the sky and the ground.plus yellow is my fave color. grey is a hard color to see in the fall, it blends with the ground a bit. black is a hot canopy to pack if you are not under cover
ncfitzge 0 #15 December 16, 2005 He is just jealous cause most DZs will not let him jump the canopy he just bought. Also, nothing to be sorry about. I just blame my mother for it anyways....#148 Sonic Scrat "Have you ever kissed a rabbit between the eyes?" Harksaw 0 #17 December 16, 2005 Our club just bought an all-orange (actually "tangerine") Navigator 280 to match our school colors. This is the most BLINDINGLY bright canopy you've ever seen.__________________________________________________ I started skydiving for the money and the chicks. Oh, wait. BlindBrick 0 #18 December 16, 2005 i went with black center and endcells and then three cell blocks of royal blue and red. The effect was almost what i wanted. When I get my next canopy, it's going to have the same basic scheme but the color blocks are going to be expanded to four cell each with the outside black moving from the endcells to the stabilizers. -Blind"If you end up in an alligator's jaws, naked, you probably did something to deserve it." JohnMitchell 16 #19 December 16, 2005 I ordered off the shelf from PD. Asked for blue with white and yellow, they sent blue and yellow. Whatever. The main thing (no pun intended) is that you be very visible under canopy. Please, no more solid gray, tan, or green. Put in some bright, neon, or at least contrasting colors so you're more visible. It makes a huge difference in your safety.
RossDagley 0 #20 December 16, 2005 7 Yellow cells, black and red cell at one end. Matched the rest of my gear and is nice and visible should I have to chop it and whilst under canopy. I also like the white top and bottom skin designs with coloured ribs (purple for instance) - theres a few swoopers at my DZ with canopies like this, and they look transparent when coming in to swoop - looks really nice IMO. Joellercoaster 6 #24 December 16, 2005 Oh yeah, pretty! I still haven't got my new main, but it's done apparently. Silver bottom skin, yellow ribs and topskin except for a black cell on the right. Matches rig (also done) and jumpsuit (just back from modification). I don't even have my A and already I'm a gear queer (As my girlfriend likes to point out though, I always have been with everything else I do, it just never had a name before. phoenixlpr 0 #25 December 16, 2005 That is a wise choice! Most of the surface is white. Its going to be grey from packing/wear and it will have a bad visibility on clouds.
