LisaH 0 #1 August 24, 2008 I posted before that my computer has been acting weird. It still is and is also not showing my printer. When I try to add it, I get this error message: 'Operatioin could not be completed. The print spooler service is not running.' What in the heck does that mean? Do I need to re-install the printer with the CD? Help, please! Be yourself! MooOOooOoo
Nightingale 0 #2 August 24, 2008 Try going to the printer manufacturer's website and downloading the latest driver for your OS. Install that and see if it works.

jcd11235 0 #4 August 24, 2008 As a general rule, when seeking computer help, there is no such thing as too much information. What kind of computer? What operating system (version)? What model printer (brand and model number)? How is the printer connected to the computer? Has the printer worked properly before in its present configuration? What kind of troubleshooting have you already done? I'm not trying to be critical. I'm trying to increase your chances of finding the correct solution. Math tutoring available. Only $6! per hour! jcd11235 0 #6 August 24, 2008 Have you tried restarting (both the computer and the printer, as well as the router if the printer is hooked up via the network instead of directly to your computer)?Math tutoring available. mrwrong 0 #14 August 24, 2008 Ahhh, don’tlisten to the MAC fanatics Right click on “My Computer” left click on “Manage” Expand “Services and Applications” Left click on “Services” Scroll down to find “Print Spooler” Right click on it and select “Start”(if it’s not running) or “Restart” (if it’s running) This should solve your problem. If not find someone to trouble shoot it for you.“The sum of intelligence on the planet is a constant; the population is growing.” - George Bernard Shaw He who dies with the most toys, wins..... dudeist skydiver # 19515 Buy quality and cry once! LisaH 0 #15 August 24, 2008 Thank you. Didn't work. This is the message I got: 'Could not start the print spooler service on local computer. Error 1053: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.' Sheesh, computers have gone all 'proper' on us now? Be yourself! imthegerm 0 #18 August 24, 2008 You could try to remove and delete printer from printer folder-restart PC and then add printer as if it were new-should work
Zep 0 #19 August 24, 2008 Ahh, you didnt say you where getting the dreaded 1053, Basically it means your HP program is corrupted, You'll have to unload the program using HP's deinstall reboot an reload the printer program, As I said it's a pain in the butt as HP takes forever to load. chrismgtis 0 #20 August 25, 2008 Do the following: Start, Run. Type "services.msc" in the run dialog and hit enter. In the list look for Print Spooler. Right click it and hit start. If this service isn't running your printer may not show up, therefore you can't print. Once you start the service, give it a minute and it should return and you should be able to print. Edit: I guess someone already said this above. That should work as your error indicates this is the problem.
