justinb138 0 #4 December 22, 2005 QuoteI guess it's the reserve that you can't pack, then. You can pack it all you want to, you just can't seal it, or jump it. Edit: Not that I recommend it.

JerryBaumchen 1,363 #7 December 22, 2005 Hi Red13, Since you say you are new, then welcome to the whacky world of skydiving. First, you must have a thick skin, and not just on dz.com. You may have noticed these posts had some help and some sarcasm, its all part of the sport. You can legally pack your own main that you intend to jump without supervision. I might not recommend that not knowing you. You can pack a main for anyone to jump if under the direct supervision of a rigger. You can legally pack your own reserve if under the direct supervision of a rigger; you cannot sign it off or seal it, he would have to do that. As a rigger, I would never let you do that where my seal was involved. Hope that this has helped.

pincheck 0 #9 December 23, 2005 i think technically speaking you have to be sign of on a packing test first before you can pack your main in the UK Billy-Sonic Haggis Flickr-Fun
riggerrob 643 #10 December 23, 2005 Similar in Canada and most other countries. You need to pack a dozen or so main parachutes - under the supervision of an instructor or rigger - before you are allowed to pack your own main, on your own. Then you need to pack another fifty or so before they will allow you to pack for students or other licensed jumpers.
