joedesk264 0 #1 August 6, 2008 I used to jump cross keys about 5 years ago and went there recently and was very disappointed. The place is a tandem factory and fun is not allowed by the non skydiving manager. His authority went way over his head and is kicking people off the dropzone for doing what we skydivers do, drink and have fun. I have friends at dropzones all over the country and I heard about this non skydiver manager and to be on my best behavior when I went there, that I should just go to manifest, pay them there money, jump and leave, thats all he wants. When I went there, it was about 95% tandems and the other 5% of fun jumpers that were there were telling me this place sucks anymore. please just bring back the old cross keys thats what we all want!!!!!!!! BillyVance 34 #2 August 6, 2008 Oh, nice... Real nice... make the first post under an anonymous screen name slamming a DZ like that. I thought John Eddowes is the manager/owner. He's a good guy. abfrank2 0 #11 August 6, 2008 I've met john a few times and he did seem to be a great guy but I guess this manager that he has got now is not doing to good for the fun skydiving and atmosphere at cross keys. ten years ago that was a great place to have fun. Okay then, that puts it in perspective. I like John, I've jumped with him and jumped his Allouette helicopter a couple times as well as participated on three of the 100 way state record events he hosted in the late 90's. If what the OP (grow some balls and fill your damn profile!) says is true, then that's sad, as big and busy as the DZ is. If enough people contacted John himself to explain their opinions, wouldn't he be likely to re-evaluate the situation with the manager? He does after all, own the damn place, AFAIK."Mediocre people don't like high achievers, and high achievers don't like mediocre people." - SIX TIME National Champion coach Nick Saban
wildcard451 0 #14 August 6, 2008 All I am gonna say is..... if you did enough drinking / debauchery to get kicked out of XKeys, then you either were doing something very very wrong, or something very very right.

Okay then, we're back to: Why don't you just tell us exactly what happened? Until you come forward with the details, don't expect any sympathy towards your position. Are you trying to hide something that would make the DZO's decision look justified?

marks2065 0 #22 August 6, 2008 i have never been to cross keys but i know a couple dzo's that wanted to be like them and ran things the way cross keys does (from what i am told). they want the tandems and have very little tolerance for fun jumpers and our antics. that being said there are more dzs to jump at and do like our stupid skydiver shit. billvon 3,072 #23 August 7, 2008 >if you did enough drinking / debauchery to get kicked out of XKeys . . . Yep. I recall one guy who stole a backhoe, drove it onto the DZ, and then was giving people "rides" on it by swinging the bucket around. One guy managed to get himself knocked out; people took pictures with him propped up between them. Then the owner of the backhoe came tearing across the DZ in his truck, and the thief hightailed it out of there. Never found out if he got caught or not. The owner had a few words with the DZ after that. Perhaps the OP did something similar, and is now peeved that you can actually get CRITICISM for stealing and vandalizing stuff! Can you believe the nerve of some people? It's just like Nazi Germany I tell ya.

normiss 854 #25 August 7, 2008 suddenly an incident like "time to make the doughnuts" comes to mindme thinks the issues are that we don't all do the same drugs or have the illegal mindset as some others choose.or any at all for that matter...a few drinks by some seems to be seen as any amount of illegal drug induced behavior by others....
