So, as you know, it's not as much the actual speed, but the ability to control the vehicle at that speed. Yes, the driver was going too fast for his/her skill set. But... was it the actual speed that was the problem NOTE: I am NOT using this as an excuse to speed. I am trying to be more conservative and wear my seatbelt again. Yes it' s the speed, it's also skill level, it's also the type of car involved, it's also the tyre and suspension, and brakes. BUT That whole scenario would have been avoided had the driver not been speeding. turtlespeed 220 #31 July 29, 2008 Well, obviously it was a more experianced driver, if the less experianced driver wasn't in the experianced lane, then his 270 would have resulted in a non impact scenario. Just because he wanted to go fast, doesn't mean that he was at fault, it could be that the less experianced more docile driver should have not been there, or should have yielded. AND it is yet one more reason to keep dogs off the streets.I'm not usually into the whole 3-way thing, but you got me a little excited with that. - Skymama BTR #1 / OTB^5 Official #2 / Hellfish #408 / VSCR #108/Tortuga/Orfun

DARK 0 #37 July 29, 2008 first of all i would like to point out that irish people get offended when they are called british :p this is an irish ad we have ads like this at home all the time started about 6 years ago they used to only be shown after 8pm at night now as far as i know its all day. america needs to do something ireland has fixed its drink driving problem to a large extent and now speed is the biggest killer. america has a massive drink driving problem(from what iv experienced so far) and needs to get a handle on it if it makes you stop and think about what your doing for even a second then the ad has done its job and i dont see any downside

MikeJD 0 #40 July 29, 2008 QuoteI would have just hit the dog Easy to say. I think your instinct might be to swerve regardless of what you think you'd do logically. I would have hit the dog too, and have, three times in the past. They all were in the street with parked cars on both sides. Any police officer will tell you, it's better to hit an animal in the street than swerve and hit a parked car or tree or ditch, or person walking on the sidewalk. All I can do is brake as best I can, I'm not turning the wheel. However, if its a person, yeah, I don't have a choice but try to avoid hitting one. And I hope to God, that I never have a small kid run into the street at the last second.
