masterrigger1 2 #27 January 12, 2006 Dave, Yes, that is correct. I was in OK City this summer attending a meeting with the FAA guys. Some of them had suggested an AD for the issue of Senior riggers working outside of the limitations of their certificates. So, one is in the making. pilotdave 0 #28 January 12, 2006 You sure it was an AD and not an AC or a letter of interpretation or something? ADs are written toward specific pieces of equipment or aircraft. I don't know how they'd write an AD on main parachutes. I can't even see how they could write an AD on a particular type of main parachute, but just on all main parachutes doesn't sound right to me. If there was a question like this one about what maintenance an airplane owner can do as opposed to an A&P mechanic, there's no way they'd issue an AD to clear it up. masterrigger1 2 #29 January 13, 2006 YEP... AD (Advisory Directive) AD's can be written for anything that is thought to be a saftey related hazard. Parts and equipment are the most prominent ones out there though! MELSkyworks Parachute Service, LLC www.Skyworksparachuteservice.com
riggerrob 643 #30 January 13, 2006 I was talking to one young rigger about line sets and he said the easy way to make a new line set was to carefully measure the old line set one line at a time. I realized that it was a waste of my time to argue with that type of "reasoning". Sparky >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> I had the same conversation with the same young rigger, just wandered off shaking my head.
