ChasingBlueSky 0 #1 January 18, 2005 Well....I finally gave in and started to play last night (after a day of not being able to log in due to server issues and an hour of downloading the updates). I don't think I have ever been so overwhelmed by a game before - there is A LOT to this game. I can't believe that an online game looks and plays this good. I haven't gotten into the social aspect of it yet, or paired up with anyone for a quest as I am trying to figure things out. I think I have already made a mistake or two with some of the training I purchased for my main character....but I am hooked. Is going to level 5 in one night typical??? Right now I am on the server with the name Dragon in it (can't remember the full name) playing as a Night Elf Warrior. I also have an Undead Mage I am playing around with. I may use these characters to figure the game out and then start up new ones. I've PM'd a couple people about the game...but is there anyone else out there being as big of a geek as I am now? This thing is video game crack! (my two roommates are thinking of buying this game after watching me play last night)_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... mcrocker 0 #2 January 18, 2005 Eradar: Carrion (lvl 33 Orc Hunter), Shishak (lvl 13 Undead Rogue) Arrgramar: Carrium (lvl 14 Human paladin). Yeah, I'm a geek, the game is one of the best MMORPGs I've played. The PVP stuff needs work but it will get there. DAoC RvR was better I hit lvl 11 in one night but I was grouped with my wife (2 computers, 2 accounts) and I played in closed & open beta. I'm 7 days /played since christmas :/
Slappie 9 #3 January 18, 2005 I was (retired) Evercrack junkie. I'm afraid to buy WoW because I was so sucked into Evercrack. But dammit all my online friends are playing, so when their all gaming in WoW I'm left to fend for myself and nothing to do really.... I hate TV so most nights are gaming or or or ughhh watching TV "Find out just what any people will quietly submit to and you have found out the exact measure of injustice and wrong which will be imposed upon them." I had been toying with the idea of switching my gym time to the morning before work and I think I will do that now just so I have an extra hour to play at night_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... Slappie 9 #5 January 18, 2005 I picked up EQ2 but Sony Online Entertainment totaly jacked my class and tradeskillers are hosed. They are nerfing this and that willy nilly. I cancelled my acct to EQ and EQ2. I'm MMOless atm.. But WoW is starting to creep into my thoughts. LOL I miss the gaming, grinding and getting new ubah stuff. Plus the social online thing, making friends in the game, the community of the games was alot of fun too. My GF called it a video IRC chat room. Which in a sense it was. You just killed pixelated monsters while you cracked jokes and flirted with the elven babes. peachsouthern 0 #7 January 18, 2005 Countryscrub got me into it. I figured it was the only way we can communicate was to play along with him It was one of those if you can't beat them, join them. Well needless to there have been many nights with me on my handsfree set talking to him on his speakerphone and us paired up doing quests. I have to say i'm hooked!!! Not as bad as him and i stillcan't figured out how he can stay on for 12+ hrs at a time, but its our enjoyment when we can't be together. The best is making them dance or strip..hehehehe Well at the present time i'm a lvl 14 mage and he is i believe a lvl 34 hunter. "There are only two ways to live your life. Zennie 0 #10 January 18, 2005 HARDCORE EQ2 junkie here. Main is a female Dark Elf necromancer named Bubbles (lvl 27) & alt is a male Ratonga Druid (lvl 15.. working to Warden) named Mouse. OK, Slap, so what exactly was fuxored in tradeskilling? And what got nerfed? Maybe I was immune due to being a healer and a Necro, but I really haven't heard of much getting severely whacked by the nerf bat. I saw the screenies for WoW and they looked too cartoonish for me. From what I'm gathering from unbiased reviews, WoW is more friendly to the causal gamer. Easier to level and solo. To get anywhere in EQ2 you pretty much HAVE to group... and yes the grinds get to be hell after level 20 or so. But I still enjoy it. Oh, and if anyone is playing EQ2, I'm on the Lucan D'Lere server... evil of course. - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
Slappie 9 #11 January 18, 2005 I was a lvl 32 Wizard.. they total nerfed the Wizzy into the ground with the AE nerfs. Tradeskills are starting to get some love. Used to not be able to make Faction Points or Guild Status points thru tradeskill writs. The interdependancies suck really bad. Wasn't able to scribe my own tradeskill class recipe books. Just normal SOE bullshit. You also have to remember I played EQ1 into the very high content levels. I was Time flagged, Tacvi flagged and was working my way thru the OoW expansion with my guild. Until WoW and EQ2 came and dwindled server populations to about 80% what they used to be. WoW is more my style atm, I'm not looking for a second job leveling and grind another toon to higher levels. So WoW kinda meets my game style.. hop on for an hour or two get some play time. Then quit for a few days. I've done the 4+ hours everynight and 12+ on weekends. ChasingBlueSky 0 #12 January 18, 2005 QuoteIs it played on battelnet?....free? Nope, not free. $14.99/month or they have a 3 month and 12 month price. It has its own server setup seperate from battlenet. If you liked Ultima Online you will LOVE this game. It's worth the cash_________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again..... larsrulz 0 #14 January 18, 2005 You would be suprised just how populated the servers are with females. My guild is abotu 30% female. I got a 29 gnomish rogue on Earthen Home. We should obviously all get on a server and make a DZ.com guild! I got a strong urge to fly, but I got no where to fly to. -PF

Zennie 0 #16 January 18, 2005 QuoteYou would be suprised just how populated the servers are with females. I always assume the person on the other end of the keyboard is a guy IRL. Still, my female Dark Elf toon gets hit on all the fscking time... and usually by dwarves & gnomes. What is it about those midget classes anyway? - Z "Always be yourself... unless you suck." - Joss Whedon
Slappie 9 #17 January 18, 2005 QuoteYou would be suprised just how populated the servers are with females. My guild is abotu 30% female. Be very wary of the females they just might be males. Not until you get them on Teamspeak or some other voice chat will you know for sure if you're flirting with a real woman or some dude crossdressing as a chic. We call them "Manginas" and Shenises" in EQ. Men you play females and woman who play men. Nothing wrong with it. Katzeye 0 #23 January 18, 2005 I'm also a hardcore EQ player in a Time/Tacvi+ guild. I got a 10 day free trial to WoW and it's hard to login to EQ anymore! I love WoW from the miles and miles of content, to the quest structure (zero exp griding), to the professions (no more fek carpel tunnel syndrome), to the beautiful eye candy. I love how I can login to WoW for an hour, solo a level or finish a quest, mine some things and logout to do laundry or whatever and not be stressing in a stupid exp group. WoW definitely has changed the landscape of MMPORGs forever. The only reason people are still playing EQ is because they haven't tried WoW yet. Is a chicken omelette redundant?
