I turned on CNN when I read the thread about George Carlin to get some details and saw her story being covered instead. The ticker on the bottom of the screen actually said (and I sh*t you not) [....Singer's father blames her crack and cigarette habit....] Well, yeah. ONE of those is bound to getcha eventually! Sure, I embrace compassion for all sentient beings. But is it newsworthy, (Is it even water cooler worthy?!) when someone who's been proudly and publicly abusing their own dumb ass for several years finally crashes? Yeah, I feel for her parents, friends and all the music industry swine who've been cashing in on her borderline talent and insanity, but I feel even more sorry for those of us who are going to have to listen to her movingly introspective comeback album next year. Granted George Carlin is probably much more well known/established then Amy Winehouse is/should be... but none the less we're talking about one "famous person versus another famous person" and frankly I've always just considered people... people... famous or otherwise...
