tetra316 0 #1 June 13, 2008 So I finally got around to getting a new motorcycle battery and when I went to hook it up I realized I did not have the nuts to tighten down the screw on the terminals. The old battery apparently didn't need it, maybe the screw fit tight enough without one. I don't have the old one anymore since I traded it in. So the question is can I just use electrical tape to hold the connections to the terminals tightly until I figure out where to find the right size nuts(no luck at home depot)? I figure why not. The terminal covers are plastic so it obviously doesn't heat up enough to melt it. Or am I going to get home tomorrow and have completely screw up the battery/connections? NO Go to a battery shop or mechanic, or electrical wholesaler and getthe right things, vibration on bike and batteries will not allow you to run very far at all with out the teminals tightened down properlyYou are not now, nor will you ever be, good enough to not die in this sport (Sparky) My Life ROCKS! Fozz 0 #3 June 13, 2008 What he said!!!!!! + go to where you got the battery and explain that the little plastic bag the 2 nuts and bolts the battery should have come with is missing and ask if they have a spare (or yours) laying around John Fosgate "In the end, its always best to choose the hard right over the easy wrong." tetra316 0 #4 June 13, 2008 I bought it from Batteries Plus. No little bag with screws and nuts. Still beats the $100 the dealership wanted to charge me though.

FreefallFro 0 #6 June 13, 2008 You need to have it bolted done securly or you risk frying a battery cable or worse yet your alternator depending on what bike you have.
