KNewman 0 #1 January 27, 2006 Help!!!! I am looking to get a "Real" helmet now that I am off student status. I have searched the forums for info on the Gunner and the Rat-Hat, however most of the stuff is old. Anyone have any thoughts on which would be a better helmet? Or for that matter any other brands that would work well? I have tried both on and really like the way they fit. Do they let you demo helmets?? I have seen concerns with the Gunners chin strap, (read a post about two of them falling off in freefall) has Bonehead fixed these issues? Like I said I did the search but want to work with more up to date information. Any guidance and assistance is appreciated. Blue Skies and Stand-up Landings!!!!!! diablopilot 2 #2 January 27, 2006 Do you want a full face or open face? If you want a full face with a visor then you'll want to look at the Mamba.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously. KNewman 0 #3 January 27, 2006 I am not sur I want a full face just yet, I have tried them on and get a little claustrophobic. A full face keeps me from being able to see my handles well enough for me to be comfortable. Maybe a little bit later when I have more experience. I currently use the rentals which resemble an Ion. diablopilot 2 #4 January 27, 2006 Then the Gunner is the choice for you. It's a nice helmet, from a great company. Tell em' I sent ya.---------------------------------------------- You're not as good as you think you are. Seriously.
Stiner 0 #5 January 27, 2006 I used to have a gunner (recently sold it and went to a full face). I thought it was a good helmet...comfortable and quiet. I never had a probelm with the chin strap, although I did put a small stitch in strap to ensure I didn't have any problems with it loosening.
ripcord4 0 #6 January 27, 2006 I have a Guner. I like the way it fits, it's super quiet and holds 2 audibles. I am not certain how good it would be in a serious head-banging, though - but that's true of most of the skydiving helmets out there.
JeepDiver 0 #7 January 27, 2006 I tried a gunner on and liked the way it fit me. I was undecided between the gunner and the mindwarp at the time. I ended up buying a mindwarp. I'm very happy with it. I'm thinking of getting a mamba as a full face helmet in the next few months.
Spatula 0 #8 January 27, 2006 I have a gunner and love it!! Its super comfortable, 2 audible pockets....my only quam was the chin strap....but that's good to go now (fastex clip) and sewed it down some...it's sweet...
HydroGuy 0 #9 January 27, 2006 I have a Gunner. It's quiet, comfortable, holds two audibles, and the chin strap sucks. Supposedly you can heat it in the oven and then mold it to your head...I never bothered with that step though.Get in - Get off - Get away....repeat as neccessary
ltdiver 3 #10 January 28, 2006 Gunner's nice. How 'bout a Mindwarp? ltdiver Don't tell me the sky's the limit when there are footprints on the moon
ripcord4 0 #11 January 28, 2006 I have been waiting for someone else to say this, but as no one seems willing to, I will: Boys and girls, it's spelled GUNER, not Gunner.
