ryoder 1,590 #14 May 17, 2008 That almost happened to me once. I was on final in a Blanik L-13 glider when some jackass rolled out onto the runway right in front of me, and proceeded to do his run-up. I could have tried to land in front of him, but didn't know when he might start rolling, and did not want to risk having him roll under me and slice me up with the prop. So I opted to aim behind him and hope he started rolling before I started eating his tail. My gamble was successful; He began rolling before I reached my touchdown point."There are only three things of value: younger women, faster airplanes, and bigger crocodiles" - Arthur Jones. mx757 4 #15 May 17, 2008 I fly out of that airport 52F, It's pretty damm busy for a non tower airport. and I'm deaf and don't use the unicom to broadcast my intentions etc. 52F has tall trees at the south end of the airport and when landing on runway 35 as they were on this day, you can't see any aircraft on the runway at south end due to the trees... I was flying there on Mother's Day...and while flying the pattern downwind I saw no aircraft on ground...but when I passed over the trees coming in there was a Piper sitting there on end of runway waiting to take off...flew right over him and landed... I didn't see him till I cleared the trees.... and then a week later this happens.... wind blows other way 90% of the time and landings are usually made on runway 17...instead of runway 35....
